The question is "What did Trumpism DO to 'Make America Great Again,'" and the corollary ... did it even remotely succeed in that undertaking?

The answer is a resounding YES.

Inflation caused in part by tariffs.

His ideals do not align with the majority Hank. Yours do not either.

I have to love his Federal and SCOTUS judges
It is like y'all don't even READ the posts to which you respond.

Trump did not nominate ONE appellate judge that was not on the same list that would have been used by absolutely ANY Republican in the Oval Office (Federalist/Heritage).

To use YOUR terminology, it was a GOPe list.

That used to be called American exceptionalism.

The problem is the convergence of corporate and government interests.

Agreed.

Explain how granting governmetn more power to interfere with trade will help this problem. That's the big issue.

If you think Donald Trump is the one enabling that,

Trump is promoting socialism. How is that not a "path to communism"?

You're not really making an argument. Leftists believe they are promoting American aspiration and MAGA is promoting American decline.
99% of this forum cannot grasp this concept.

They are utterly convinced ... deep down into their bones ... that The Opposition has the affirmative GOAL of destroying this nation. They simply cannot fathom that someone might have an idea of "success" for the country that differs from their own.

That's like saying that a liberal arts basic class would open your eyes to the systemic racism.

It's made in ignorance!

I don't give a damn what colleges teach as "economics". You just implied that the USA had been communist up until FDR. You also implied FDR was your God!

FDR...

Are you listening? FDR= FREE TRADE. He implemented that under the excuse of "Will keep us out of wars because it will open doors and they will all want to be us"

BS!

Those are the beliefs of most conservatives. The problem with the bold part of your statement is that China with their currency manipulations was causing a trade deficit for the US. Trumps policies negated them though it goes against free trade it was needed.

Economics is easy to understand. I think of it like my camera. Every input requires a tradeoff. It absolutely should be taught in HS.

We had Free Enterprise, which was one of my favorite classes ever, HS or college. A coach taught it and he was brilliant.

I understand the emotional reasons people like protectionism, but its terrible economics.
