Got my direct deposit but only 3400 even though have 3 kids. Is there a cap?

ETA: Went back through 2018 and 2019 taxes and I did not have a box checked correctly for my third child.

Money coming from everywhere. Rich.

The IRS doesn’t make mistakes.

It is an advance on a 2020 tax credit. If you have a 3rd child that qualifies, they will be included as a credit on your tax filing

You're right. It should have only been tied to unemployment, not an Oprah giveaway to anyone with a pulse under a certain tax bracket.

Seems like you got more money then you should have. $500 per kid and then $1200 for you. That only totals $2700.

There is a cap on 4 kids.

Write the IRS a letter. They'll put it in their special file.

I have a wife too that works. So should be $3900 I think.

Apparently one of the kids isn't yours.

then y'all should have gotten $3,900 if your combined income is less than $150K

I really do not know the answer, but joshnorris is probably correct

Will this be corrected on 2020 taxes?

This is making me mad. I have no kids and my wife and I got nothing. I envision that money in your account as the money I had taken from me from the government.

Give it back.

if it's based on your 2018 taxes, then the last wouldn't be there probably. You'll get it when you file taxes next year.

I’m not going to complain but somehow my wife and I got a check for $2220. We both make over the individual threshold and together are also over the threshold when filing jointly so we didn’t expect to get anything other than maybe the $500 because of our kid. Trump surprises me yet again.
