You already freely allowed the government to set aside the first amendment just a few years ago.

And you folks loved it.

How so? I'm a pretty big first amendment fan so not sure what this is in reference to. Can you link the post?

When people were being hauled away in cuffs for attending religious services? Losing their job for not wanting a vaccine? We’re not allowed to freely assemble (except for BLM riots, that was (D)ifferent).

Care to show us any posts about your concern then?

I don't support that.

I didn't ever support a vaccine mandate. But private employers aren't bound by 1st amendment...

Who wasn't? I still met up with friends and such during pandemic.... Went to see family, did holidays all that stuff. Hell covid was the best time to fly anywhere as far as I am concerned empty planes and no dumbasses who don't know how to travel....

So, the Biden administration?

a. I didn't support that

b. That was state/local governments (acting under state and federal emergency declarations), not the feds

Mostly private actors so irrelevant to this discussion.

This is really wearing thin. I have voted for Trump three times. If the only standard we are holding him to is “better than Biden” then we are well and truly fricked.

Wait what? You are going to have to explain this statement.

I don't think private employers should have either but the first amendment only limits governments interference with speech, assembly, and religion and doesn't protect an employee from their employer.

He didn't support a vaccine mandate (neither did I). That's a public policy.

That has nothing to do with a private actor (employer) having a different policy.

The 1A stuff isn't really applicable. That was all state actors raiding churches and gatherings, not private employers as far as I know.

He did it during a war...a civil war.

Nothing close to that exists today. Hell it's probably not even legal to rescind it today (while it 100% was during the Civil War)

The Privilege of the Writ of Habeas Corpus shall not be suspended, unless when in Cases of Rebellion or Invasion the public Safety may require it.

Civil War = rebellion. Clearly a situation that permits suspension of HC.

No rebellion or invasion exists today.

if they can support school shootings in the prayer they lead to the elimination of the 2A, they will support anything.
