I actually used to enjoy Colbert Report. Now the guy is just a loon.
I miss those evenings watching Leno with my wife. Sure, some political jokes but not incessant.

I worked for a CBS affiliate show, and so a few months ago was apart of a blast email that Colbert needed a new writer. The prompts were embarrassingly hilarious.
EVERY SINGLE DIRECTION was about portraying Trump negatively. It wanted you to write jokes (in Stephens voice) that we’re negative to trump. But there were caveats, it had to be timely, nothing like from 2016 anymore, etc.
Just hilarious they wanted applicants to send in multiple script samples, but the only topics to chose from were anti-trump. There were no other options

Agreed. And it's a shame too because I used to love the guy. He's frickin funny if he just sticks to comedy. I loved his Phil Ken Seben Seben character on Harvey Birdman Attorney at Law.
He's full on political hack these days though and it makes me wanna punch him in the throat.

I used to enjoy his Colbert Report show on Comedy Central. Never realized what an unsufferable liberal douche he was until he left for CBS and abandoned the Colbert Report character

SNL has a famously liberal audience and Norm McDonald would kill on weekend update and you'd hear crickets in the audience if it was about women or gays or Clinton or Hillary.
I think they hold up big signs to tell the audience to laugh whenever its about some Conservative issue or politician. It really is USSR stuff.

Late night shows just pander to the left. As recently as 2 years ago we were regular watchers. Fallon alone turned our moderately conservative household into straight line conservatives.

I think, at a minimum, he leans right and knew he was surrounded by leftists so he would use comedy to troll the frick out of Lorne Michaels and the audience, live on television and he got a kick out of it. All by himself.
