Quick reminder to head to the polls tomorrow, Saturday, May 16th.

Please vote YES on Constitutional Amendment 2 (CA 2)! Voting YES means creating the St. George Community School District—which was the main reason the city was created in the first place. Please remind your friends, family, and neighbors to get out and vote YES on CA 2 tomorrow. It needs to pass statewide, so all of Louisiana will vote on this ammendment.

That’s certainly anyone’s right if they’re satisfied with the status quo.

Status Quo:
-88th percentile performance against national metrics
-Students test on average 1.5 grade levels BELOW national average.
-If that sounds bad, these metrics are majorly propped up by BR High, which is a top 300 school in the nation.

Why is it a bad thing to create competition and new stellar schools in the area?

Why would you want to prevent people from the city of St. George from being able to address the education of their children?

It's crazy to see people like yourself.

This is a big motivator for me. The people there first tried working with the EBR School Board to get more accountability for the failing schools. The school board told them that if they didn't like the schools then they should create their own system.

They tried to create their own system and the state told them they can't do that without first creating their own city.

They then got a petition passed around, signed and presented it to the state. The Baton Rouge Metro Council (read: City of Baton Rouge) threw up every legal blockade they possibly could to stop them.

The state supreme court had to step in and tell the City to frick the frick off.

Now they have a city and are ready to finally start the last leg of their long and hard-fought journey.

A responsible school system has always been the goal.

I just can't understand why anyone outside of St. George would object to giving the kids a better opportunity to be educated with the City issue finally being resolved.

It's psychotic.

Outside the parish? No reason to really object.

Inside the parish? EBRPSS is upset they will be losing tax dollars to people they aren’t really servicing right now.

The other three municipalities have no reason to vote against it considering all of them should be fine financially, but there is an effort there to frick St George anyway.

Because most of those opposing this are lazy, uneducated and will do anything the pastor in their community whips them up to do

EBR schools 73 C minus(used to be a D)
3 bordering parishes all ranked in top 10 and 2 of the 3 independent districts in EBR also in top 10.

EBR has had since Judge Parker's ruling to fix the problems, time is up.

If the vote fails, look for StG to challenge the law giving people OUTSIDE the district to vote in court and a likely win.
