EDIT: I meant to post this in the Movie/TV forum

I have no idea how I came across this movie last night but it's about the daily lives of a bunch of meth heads. This movie is a combination of Clerks, Go and Basketball Diaries all mixed up into one crazy arse movie.

The movie was made in 2004 so the nostalgic aspect of the movie was awesome and pretty spot on with how life was back in 2004

This movie was bonkers to me and if you are looking for a crazy movie to watch, I suggest checking this movie out.

It's called "Spun" - It's insane and it reminds me of how crazy the Meth world is and I am very thankful that I never got involved with that white trash shite

I watched it when it came out and my recollection is that it was really difficult to watch, which I think was the point.

Is it irony or coincidence Brittany Murphy is on the cover?

I think the contemporary joke was "of course she got skinny for a movie about meth"

We obviously did not know at the time that her time left on Earth was short

From what I remember that movie sucked and was pure derivative nonsense. It was basically towards the end of the Pulp copycat era. Basically this was an attempt to remake Trainspotting with meth (and a lot less talent)

Trainspotting and Basketball Diaries sure gave heroin a bad name.

It wasn't just the focus on the drugs. It was the kinetic style and focus more on style than narrative substance.

Movies like that can work, but primarily when you're the trendsetter and showing audiences something new. When you're just being a copy cat and CTRLF-replacing the drug, it is much less impactful.

I don't mean to defend meth but can't you say the same about Scotch if you take it too far? The insidious thing about meth is that it's dirt cheap and lasts a long, long time. As the great Billy Joe Shaver said "it's a super cheap way to party, if you aim to kill some brain cells and some time".

[quote]I don't mean to defend meth but can't you say the same about Scotch if you take it too far.

My father was an over the road long haul truck driver. He would take the caffeine pills they sell in gas stations to help keep him alert and awake on long trips where he had little sleep. One day a buddy of his gave him some meth and told him it was way more effective than anything else. He became unrecognizable as the man who had raised me.Wasted away to about 120 lbs, lost all his teeth, sores all over that he constantly picked at, paranoid as frick, and smelled awful. Cost him his job, his marriage, most of his friends.

Yes severe alcoholism can be very destructive as well but not sure how anyone can defend meth.

That’s injecting hair spray into your spine, not meth

Meth has ruined many a truck drivers. I’ve known several

I don’t know why anyone would try that shite when you see what it does to people. Meth and Heroin are on another level compared to other drugs. I’ve seen functional alcoholics, coke heads, potheads, pill heads. I’ve never seen a functional person addicted to meth or heroin, their lives are completely ruined

I don't think they ever solved her cause of death but it appears her and her boyfriend were poisoned.

Do requiem for a dream next, especially if you're planning on picking up heroin.
