I don't mean to defend meth but can't you say the same about Scotch if you take it too far? The insidious thing about meth is that it's dirt cheap and lasts a long, long time. As the great Billy Joe Shaver said "it's a super cheap way to party, if you aim to kill some brain cells and some time".

My father was an over the road long haul truck driver. He would take the caffeine pills they sell in gas stations to help keep him alert and awake on long trips where he had little sleep. One day a buddy of his gave him some meth and told him it was way more effective than anything else. Yes severe alcoholism can be very destructive as well but not sure how anyone can defend meth.

I’ve seen functional alcoholics, coke heads, potheads, pill heads. I’ve never seen a functional person addicted to meth or heroin, their lives are completely ruined

Do requiem for a dream next, especially if you're planning on picking up heroin.
