Ask Bama. I'm not making that argument.

Dont assume thats a proven point and then decide whether to prosecute.

What you said before this quoted text has nothing to do with the prosecution.

That was his effort. His effort was to throw the election to the House using existing EC rules.

There were objections on J6. They failed. That's not what Trump is being prosecuted over.

That is also specifically not Trump's role. That is the role of members of Congress, the Senate, and the VP....not the President.

quote:

Though opponents claim there was no legal ability to do so, S.4573 (The Electoral Count Reform and Presidential Transition Improvement Act of 2022) says otherwise. It closed the EC procedural loophole which supposedly did not exist.

This is a bad argument. Clarifying laws doesn't imply the previous law says what you did. It just fully removes the lunacy from the equation. This happens all the time when people think they're being clever, disrupt the system, and ultimately fail.

duh.

That is why it wasn't done. Trump's effort was to convince Pence to take advantage of the EC rules. The crowd present on J6 was intended to show a gutless Pence that there was massive political support for him pushing the issue.

That is your opinion. You're wrong of course, but you are certainly entitled to your own opinion.

How would this realistically happen? Please provide in great detail the steps required to do this. Idiot.

In order to know this you would have to know all things in the universe.

You would be a god.

Did not know you believe Trump to be a god.

You have to be stupid, ignorant or a liar to claim the 2020 election was lawful.

Trump's effort was to convince Pence to take advantage of the EC rules.

That was not legal.

The actual legal process was followed. Objections were made. Pence sent the legislators into their chambers to debate. The objections failed.

Well that's just dumb, on multiple levels.

It also directly led to legislators withdrawing their objections.

That is your opinion.

It's a legal construct. It's a faulty assumption with no legal or rhetorical weight.

The fact that you brag about this and view it as some sort of accomplishment sums you up in a nutshell.

It's not a brag.

You're mistaking me posting fact with my personal feelings on the issue. I never cared for it and actively campaigned against it (both here and on the OT) by trying to make it into a joke.

But facts are facts and reality exists. People didn't see me in this light until a certain something happened in 2016 and then really ramped up in 2020. I wonder why.

Note: the same people who flipped in that 2016-2020 range were the ones who also called me a lefty when I disagreed with the Patriot Act and Iraq invasion.

Consistency in being right has its benefits.

No.
The crowd accessing the Capitol Building led to legislators withdrawing their objections.. We can debate who instigated that, but it certainly was not Trump.

No.
It is your opinion.
As you've pointed out many times, until a novel case is heard, we can't know how actual law applies. The law was not tested here. Pence refused to try.

quote:

I did not invent the rules of legal interpretations.
..,. a fact you should keep in mind.

So Pence was supposed to look out the window and think "hmmmm...I should side with the screaming mob vs centuries of precedent"?

It's to show the people around me changed. I did not.

That's why I bring up the Iraq/Patriot Act stuff. Lots of baws on here flip their preferred policies every 3-5 years, and then pretend they've always been right and the ones who didn't changed, in fact, changed
