I’m about to piss off some southerners here..... the Baptist are quite possibly the most liberal denomination down here. It’s honestly sad to see

Maybe the name "Baptist" offends someone too. Just change it to PC convention.
Technically the word baptism is offensive to Baptists. since they don't actually believe in baptism

Actually, I think it absolutely is the point.

Not really but I can understand your inability to put it together...
The SBC has been all about compromising to be of the world for the past 20 years or better... this is just another compromise on their part...

Because of its history of slavery. Will call itself "Great Baptist Convention". Just when you think you've seen it all.
Make Baptist’s conventions great again!

quote:if there is a split, it wouldn't be the first and isn't necessarily a bad thing. the reason baptists were reformers was so that there wouldn't be an overarching, monolithic hierarchy that churches had to acquiesce to because that was the source of many religious problems in europe. so it's funny that people are criticizing baptists for this yet they probably also hate the institutional parts of the catholic church.
can vote to pull their churches out of the SBC

quote:The SBC has had a guilt trip and a half laid on them by the commies over the last 15 or so years, and they are folding like a cheap suit. I guarantee they are losing congregations right and left though. Many churches are pulling out and becoming independent congregations. They still call themselves Baptists, but independent of the SBC. In the grand scheme of things, it's all good.
