• The governor has no direct power to draw or impose new maps himself. His main levers are:
• Calling a special legislative session (where lawmakers could take up redistricting).

Why hasn't he called for a special session?

I really loath POS like this. The GOP has a great opportunity to make things right in this country and finally give Democrats a piece of their own medicine and they puss out. No backbone, and soft.

Every fricking time.

With that in mind, we're only talking one federal seat here ... Jim Clyburn's. That's it for the state of SC. But Clyburn has got to go.

I always knew Clyburn had a bastardized, convoluted district, but forgot how bizarre it was until I saw it on a map a week or so ago.

And he’s eventually wanting to hand his district off to his kid.

Shane Massey is a no body and any political capital he had is gone. He is probably compromised he has no future after this.
Kemp has always played ball w/ both sides that why hes always a survivor.

Georgia is no longer majority white. The last few State wide elections were extremely close and the demographics change more and more every year.

If Kemp were to thin out the Republican districts to much more he will end up losing representatives.

Yahtzee

That should be our #1 motivation for redistricting the state now ... as a remedy to prevent exactly that from happening down the road.
