Sometimes, you are your own worst enemy.

I consider myself to be pretty middle of the road. The last year and a half, with inflation, hasn't been particularly kind to my family's budget. I'm not happy with increasing crime nationwide, and unless the United States does something serious about it's debt, deficit, and out of control spending, we're in for some dark days ahead.
I'm not a Republican or a Democrat, but what I will say, as a fair-minded voter, is that this MAGA movement has exhausted its 15 minutes, and something has to be done to get this two-party system back on track with healthy checks and balances, and that includes, often times, divided government, with people who know how to debate issues, compromise, and resolve the problems that we are facing.
Yesterday, there should have been a red wave, but there wasn't, because too much of one political party's power has been ceded to one man. He decided to back nutball election denier candidates that had no serious chance of winning, right on the heels of Dobbs, and hence, there wasn't even a ripple, much less a wave.
Honestly, regroup and purge this got damn ignorance and lunacy out of your party and get back to common sense low tax, low spending, small government conservatism, and that will win you votes. Not this crazy shite.
Sorry, that's where I am. Flame away.

Absolutely right.
Get the MAGA out. They don’t do policy. They’re just out there to “own the libs”.

On behalf of the actual conservatives on this site, go eat a dick.
If your goal is globalism and corporate serfdom and trannie school teachers, continue voting swamp. The rest of us are going to do what we can where we can. No reason to change direction to make McConnell and Romney richer.

So you dont really get what MAGA is? Why on earth would not putting americans first, not ending endless wars, not being energy independent, etc. How would not doing those things be better for americans?

You aren’t necessarily wrong. Trump was great for four years, but we are where we are in no small part because of his petulant lashing out at people.
Loyalty really is a one way street with him, and of the many chances he’s had to show growth and restraint, he pisses all over it.
We need to move on, pull what was great from his presidency, and leave the rest behind. If we blindly follow him, we’re ceding the govt and our country to Democrats.

If you still considered yourself middle of the road right now you are a Democrat. Stop with the bull crap.

Let me remind you that the smart guys brought us Bob Dole, Mitt Romney and thet dead traitor McCain. The only victory they've had in three decades is The Bushes selling us into deepstate slavery.

This has never happened. 1 side never compromises and 1 side always compromises. Only time it didn't was during a 4 year period.
This is a Uniparty talking point that is bullshite.

Trump put up weak candidates in GA and PA and has started criticizing DeSantis. He needs to just stay out. He will lose if he runs in 2024. His negatives are too big. If DeSantis runs he will beat Trump in the primaries.

You are absolutely correct. All of it. Again, I am a two-time Trump voter, but he needs to retire.
The vast majority of Americans just want to live their lives in peace.
They want the ability to:
- find gainful employment
- earn a livable wage
- live in a safe neighborhood with a roof over their heads
- to be able to worship freely and without persecution
- exercise their freedom of speech without persecution
- save money for the future without much volatility
We truly need a fiscally conservative and socially (slightly) liberal candidate.

I appreciate a Republican who will stand up to the left and not get bulldozed by them like many of the Establishment Republicans do. However, the candidate also needs to know how to avoid shooting themselves and their fellow Republicans in the foot. Trump doesn't get how to do that. He causes himself so much damage.
DeSantis has that same sort of toughness that helped Trump win in 2016, but also has enough polish not to undermine himself and push voters away. That, to me, is the best of both worlds.

It's not exhausted, it's under attack.
Graham pulled the fake "we are going to ban ALL abortion" and McConnell pulled major funding in key races.
They did that to stop Trump candidates that would have ended their power.
Ron DeSantis is a Great candidate and so is Trump. I'll support whichever it is. But if DeSantis starts sucking RINO dick, he's done. I want McConnell and Co. GONE. They are part of the power Cabal in DC.
If it's DeSantis, he's got to have Trump's full endorsement. Love or hate Trump, the majority see the America First is the way to better US economy versus Globalism.

Thanks for proving my point. There was nothing in my post that even mentioned globalism, corporate serfdom and tranny school teachers, and instead of taking what I just posted seriously, your response was, "Go eat a dick!" If that's how real conservatism is articulated, then you've lost me at the gate.
I just spoke of inflation and how it's been on my family's budget, as well as out of control government pending, and how traditional low-tax, low spending, small government conservatism is really appealing now.
... but latch on to the BS and continue to lose elections.

So from what I gather is that you acknowledge our country has gone to shite at the hands of the establishment but you are also suggesting the establishment is the answer to get back on track? What’s the definition of insanity again?

this MAGA movement
For the trillionth time, what is THIS MAGA movement? Please describe what it is. Anyone? Because I sure as hell don't know.
Taking pride in one's nation is called patriotism. This is universal and applicable anywhere you go.
Desiring one's own country to thrive economically, peacefully and culturally is also universal.
So again, what is this MAGA movement?
I'll tell you what it is. It's a made-up blanket label that is being applied to anyone who stands in the way of modern-day Babylon that is America today. Because patriotism is diametrically opposed to their agenda of complete control of everyone's lives and the destruction of any semblance of Judeo-Christian values and belief systems.

I understand what you're saying. I've said for years that the kooks amongst the right are going to scare off moderates who don't want to be associated with them. I was downloaded by the clueless on this board. But, did you really vote for a furtherance of these dem policies that have impacted your wallet because of that? If so, can you elaborate on your thinking?

The hell with that crap.
The 'slightly' socially liberal candidate is part of the reason we are here. 'Bake the damn cake', 'birthing people', 'what is a woman' are all the results from being slightly socially liberal. Pushing back against gay marriage has gotten people branded as 'homophobic' and trampled in society.
We need smart people in leadership who can articulate good policies, make good decisions, and have debates without resorting to playground insults.
