If I am not mistaken, the Gub'ment forced most of the problems on the USPS pension for effect. Speaking broadly, but ten or fifteen years ago, the government forced the postal pension to contribute 4 or 5 times the norm to 'catch up'. However, the remainder of the government agency pensions remain grossly underfunded. Another example of the government creating crisis at select points.

Democrats are fundamentally flawed because of greed. Not to say some Republicans aren't, but it is vastly widespread in the Democrat party. They keep their voters stupid and poor to keep the competition low. You just saw them emphatically shut the door on Jasmine Crockett.

That requirement sucked operating funds out of the postal service leading to the massive cutbacks we have seen.

Maybe it's just me, but I'd say private companies like FedEx, UPS, DHL, etc had more to do with it than anything else.

What a unique view of today’s times. That was very refreshing.

But you would be incorrect. It isn't difficult to find information on this.

Mail should be delivered and picked up once a week, that’s it, that’s all that’s needed

Would make the USPS viable instantly

Cant happen once a year until the low trust people within the organization are met with instant and real consequences including criminal prosecution for theft and termination for not meeting job requirements.

If the USPS had basic oversight it could be fixed within a year and run better than any federal agency currently does.

Reality is with robotics and optimization we could eliminate half the employees and have tracking that would make UPS and FedEx look like amateurs at a fraction of the cost.

Youd know a letter made it through each processing stop and youd know when a letter made it onto a delivery truck so you could immediately identify when something went wrong who was involved and AI could identify trends within days to remove the bad actors.

We dont because too many people within the organization dont want or care for it to work efficiently because it would impact their own inefficiencies and agendas and our federal elected officials arent qualified to help run a lemonade stand and would steal all the money from the kids doing the work if they did.

Maybe I am wrong on the magnitude, but it cannot be argued that competition has hurt the USPS.

And it doesn't bother me at all that the postal service is hurting. It's another in a long list of govt failures.

Recent federal investigations and arrests confirm cases of United States Postal Service (USPS) employees stealing, altering, and cashing checks in major cities, including Chicago and Atlanta.

Chicago: On April 9, 2026, a former USPS worker in Chicago was charged with four felony counts of theft and four counts of forgery.
She allegedly stole checks from customers, altered the payee to her name or increased the dollar amount, and deposited them into her personal account.

In a larger March 2026 case, the USPS OIG uncovered a massive conspiracy where 35 employees helped a syndicate exploit over 10,000 victims, mostly in the Chicago area.

Atlanta: In March 2026, former clerks at the Atlanta Mail Recovery Center pleaded guilty to stealing cash and gift cards from the mail.
Other regional cases involve postal workers selling stolen checks via Telegram channels to be washed or sold to external scammers.

Widespread Tactics: Check Washing: Scammers use chemicals to erase ink on stolen checks to change payees and amounts, a process documented by the United States Postal Inspection Service (USPIS).

Internal Theft: The USPS Inspector General has reported that many check thefts are "inside jobs," with nearly 900 mail theft investigations and over 250 arrests occurring in a six-month period.

Reporting: If you suspect mail theft by an employee, you can file a report with the USPS Office of Inspector General (OIG). For general mail theft or "washed" checks, contact the U.S. Postal Inspection Service.

I had no idea.
