CHAMBLEE, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - A person rammed into the front gate at the FBI Atlanta headquarters Monday afternoon.

Officials say it happened just after noon off Flowers Road. The suspect exited a red/orange SUV and ran, but was caught by FBI agents who were nearby. The driver was taken into custody by the DeKalb County Police Department.

The FBI said they could not provide any further details about what led this person to do this, but said there is no concern for public safety.

The SUV was seen smashed into the gate. First Alert Chopper saw tactical vehicles surrounding the vehicle and yellow crime scene tape.

FBI officials say there is a fence that surrounds the perimeter of the FBI offices and there is a gate where employees swipe in with employee badges. The suspect driver attempted to follow an employee in front of them, but the gate prevented the vehicle from entering.

The bomb squad was on scene and the vehicle is being thoroughly searched, they said.

I find it interesting the FBI finds it necessary to have a gate.

Apparently this is a lot more common than is reported on. The FBI office in Jackson is a frequent target from what I've been told

I hope I’m picked to be on this person’s jury.

Impressive how many resources are dedicated to protecting "themselves" and meanwhile the law abiding productive citizens are "on their own."

Ah those poor FBI people must feel so isolated behind all those gates and walls and anti-intrusion systems. Gosh, if only our border had such things.

FBI offices have steel walls and gates.

"A wall would be useless!"-democrats

What I really find interesting is a federal law enforcement agency needs to be protected from those it is supposed to serve.

Perhaps a few Patriot Front guys forgot their keys to the front gate.

There aren’t too many people loathed more than FBI employees. Not guilty.

I thought walls don't work?

Why have walls or fencing up with a gate to allow people in of the walls and fencing doesn't work?

now that's funny, don't care who you are
judging by the photo the dummy should have driven onto the side walk and crashed through the fence there, instead of a big concrete barrier . Kinda thinking the driver was not the brightest bulb in the chandelier

With the use of “not guilty” on this site I hope no one here is on any jury, ever.

But in this case, not guilty.
