This is what I said:

quote:

The message is, if the TV tells them to, black people will pretend there is a deeper meaning to something that only they can understand.

and this is what you said:

quote:

Funny because the white 20s people I work with got it right away. If you listen to drake and Lamar, you’d know the shots taken at drake. Lamar raps about black issues prison pop, poverty, challenges facing poop inner city blacks. Doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out if you listen to his music.

Looks like we both said the same thing.

During the unfunny SNL skit for Black Jeopardy Keenan referenced how you had to be black to know the message that the Super Bowl halftime show was sending. I sure did not grasp a salient theme, what was it?

The only message I received is that the dumbing down of America is still in effect.

Spoiler alert - that only goes one way. The people that will call you names for not supporting DEI will actively and enthusiastically discriminate against you.

They’re racists attempting to use race to discriminate against other racial groups.

It’s as simple as that.

Imagine someone saying "You're black, you're not capable of understanding."

Let's have David Allen Coe at next year's Superbowl halftime show and say one must be white to "get the message"!

He's not singing words randomly, so yeah there is by default a message within. Even if the message is extremely primitive like shorties good shoe stepping bad.

It’s just reinforcement of their current trope. That unless you are (insert minority here) it isn’t possible for you to understand their “struggle”

I’m supposed to be crippled by the fact a number of my ancestors died on the Trail of tears.

I’m not. I didn’t walk it, no member of my family remembers anyone who did. It certainly didn’t hold us back once we figured out how to do things their way.

Just like everyone else throughout history that were a conquered people.

It was simple, Black people want good sex, loose shoes, and a warm place to go to the bathroom.

I'm confused at how you got that message out of it...

Keenan was joking. At the time, I actually told my wife that someone on TD would think he was seriously referring to a message that only black people can understand. Sadly, I was correct.

I thought it was meant as a joke. Most people thought the halftime show sucked, and they were making fun of people who said it was a black thing.
