I always thought that shutting down parks & such were selective & done mostly for effect. Can’t the government choose what to fund or not?

The filibuster is there for a reason,

To shield RINO cucks, so they can act like they would vote, but darn it, you need 60. It’s always been a smoke and mirrors mechanism

You are sadly misinformed. The filibuster is a very important protection against the tyranny of the majority. that our founders feared so much.

So in your mind, if republicans uphold the filibuster, when the Dems get 52 senators in, they’re going to look at each other and say, ‘damn it would be nice to get rid of the filibuster, but our GOP colleagues didn’t when they had the majority, and besides, we don’t want to be tyrannical’

In 2021, Joe Biden’s attempt to raise the federal minimum wage to $12 failed due to not overcoming the filibuster in the senate

Which headline is more accurate

Effort to raise minimum wage fails as republicans filibuster bill

Or

Effort to raise minimum wage fails as congressional dems fail to get rid of filibuster

Joke’s on you, my friend. The republicans ca kill the filibuster and literally pass any law they wanted if they had any cojones.

I don’t know, but that’s exactly the way it’s been happening. The dems modified the filibuster to get the Affordable Care Act passed, then paid for it when Republicans modified it to get judges approved. That seemed to teach the a lesson and they’ve left well enough alone. Republicans just modified it to get teh Presidents appointees confirmed, but they really had no choice since dems were blocking them for no reason except to obstruct.

The Constitution only requires simple majority in the house and senate to pass bills

Interesting. Didn’t know that.

Who’s admin instituted the 60 rule?

Well it may have happened in the past, but they were just crazy in the past, now they’re ape-sh!t crazy and the radicals control that party. They would have already dropped it if not for that gal from Arizona.

You may want to question your own thinking. Would you want the Democrats to have complete control just because they own a simple majority?

No but I’m not naive enough to think the democrats won’t get rid of the filibuster eventually anyways

You might be right. God help us if it’s come to that.

reconciliation was created in 1974. It's become a tool for the majority to pass whatever bullshite they can get by the parliamentarian

it was unlimited filibusterimg until 1917. Then there was a 2/3 vote for cloture. This was changed post-watergate to 60 along with creating the reconciliation process to bypass it
