Omar got together with her current spouse, Ahmed Hirsi, when she was 19 years old in 2002, but the couple never completed the application process for a civil marriage. Instead, Omar maintained, she and Hirsi were married in their Muslim “faith tradition.”
In 2008 Omar and Hirsi reached an “impasse” in their relationship and separated (again under Muslim custom). In 2009, Omar engaged in a civil marriage with Ahmed Nur Said Elmi, a British citizen, but they separated in 2011 (without obtaining a legal divorce), and Elmi returned to England.
In 2017, Omar formally petitioned for divorce from Elmi, whose last known location — according to Omar’s statement as recorded in Minnesota court records — was in London as of 2011. Also in 2017, Omar reconciled with Hirsi, and they officially wed in 2018.

MINNEAPOLIS (KMSP) - Ilhan Omar, a Democratic candidate for the Minnesota House of Representatives, attempted to clarify her marital history Wednesday after facing a slew of questions about marriage certificates and the identity of her legal husband.
In a statement released Wednesday, Omar called the rumors “absolutely false and ridiculous.”
"I will offer clarity and share a difficult part of my personal history that I did not consider relevant in the context of a political campaign, so that we can put these rumors to rest," Omar said.

According to Cardoza-Moore, the recent revelation of Omar’s participation as a keynote speaker at events for Muslim Brotherhood-affiliated groups Islamic Relief USA and the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) "suggests her support for subversive factions aligned to destroy America and Western civilization itself."
Last month, Omar keynoted an Islamic Relief USA emergency fundraising dinner for Yemen in Tampa, Florida, while later this month she will be a keynote speaker at a CAIR fundraiser in Los Angeles.
CAIR has been found to have ties with Muslim Brotherhood, as well as close ties to Hamas and Hezbollah.
In 2009, CAIR was listed as an "unindicted co-conspirator" in the largest terrorist fundraising operation in the history of the United States, known as the Holy Land Foundation Trial.
During the trial, FBI investigators uncovered evidence establishing CAIR's place in the "Palestine Committee," which was a Muslim Brotherhood-created network aimed at helping Hamas in the United States, according to a report by the Investigative Project on Terrorism. In 2009, US District Court Judge Jorge Solis ruled that there is "at least a prima facie case as to CAIR's involvement in a conspiracy to support Hamas."
Moreover, the organization was officially designated a terrorist organization by the United Arab Emirates in 2014, placing it in the company of al-Qaeda, Islamic State and others.
