Not surprising at all. Actually curious why it didn't happen earlier. They went into Trans stuff pretty early.

I don't know if Dollar Shave Club was always a Unilever brand, but they have been woke as long as they have been a Unilever brand.

Apparently to DSC, black lives matter but facts and reality sure don't.

Let me know how Harry's works. I might try it out.
Oh I’ll tell you now. Been using it a while and I think it’s a fantastic product. I can’t speak to the part about actually being a member though because like I said I just buy it at Walmart. I much prefer that to joining a shave club online.

I just cancelled.
In the comments I told them why.
I just want razors. Do razors.
I don't want to know the politics of my shave club, cellular provider, airline, grocery, or gas company. Even if I agree.

Thanks for the input. I hear the commercial on conservative radio I think.

I canceled I don’t need my Damn Razor company preaching to me about about social policy’s. Just provide razors that’s all.

I summarily cancelled my subscription and signed up for Harry's. The guy on the phone said "We are overwhelmed right now"
Good for Harry's, I guess, but their blades were the worst blades I've every used. It felt like I was shaving with sandpaper (though maybe that just how all 5 blade razors feel since Harry's was the only time I tried a 5 blade). Now, I just get the generic Walmart version of schick hydro 3. It's the SAME EXACT BLADE as the original brand name blade at about 30% of the cost.
As for DSC, I'll never understand why these companies feel it is IMPERATIVE they virtue signal . You make fricking razor blades. No significant amount of people are going to start buying your product (when they didn't before) simply because you are "woke." If nothing else, you risk unnecessarily losing customers.
Is there some market research out there which says a HUGE amount of potential customers are just out there begging for a company who makes things wholly unrelated to "social justice" to make a comment before buying?

That’s on their website? Holy shite that’s pathetic, and that’s exactly what that piece of shite Stelter was saying on CNN about that exact same red dot. I’m sure that’s where they got it from in fact. So deceiving. That’s a pretty expansive view from Google maps or whatever. You zoom in I’m sure that red dot is a very significant size area. And why is the area even relevant anyway?

Dollar Shave Club Blog
They have a BLM section with their committment on their site, but you click on it and it just takes you to a help center page.

Edit: Found it. Here's their committment

Black Lives Matter
There's been no shortage of voices in the chorus. After a week of important and raw conversations and reflection here @ DSC, we want to add ours.
First, we unequivocally, loudly and vehemently condemn all forms of racist thought and action, from the deliberate and reprehensible to the unconscious but insidious. To us, there is no distinction.
Second, we are horrified and enraged by the deaths of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery as well as by the race-driven deaths of countless other black men & women in the United States. And while we are heartened by the scenes of people voicing protest and by the flood of public messages from both individuals and organizations we are equally disheartened that it takes a string of tragedies, on the heels of centuries of injustice, to spur appropriate action on racism in America. We believe what matters is what we do when events like these are not front and center.
Third, we recognize that our record is not perfect. We recognize that choices we make every day in our operations – where & with whom we choose to advertise, who we choose as suppliers or vendors, among others – matter. They are each an opportunity to demonstrate our values, and we haven’t always gotten it right. That changes now.
DSC understands its responsibility to take action, and we will be part of the change. The everyday change. The change that no doubt will take time, but that will begin immediately and continue relentlessly.
Here’s where we’re starting:
- We will be conducting an audit of our relationships with suppliers, vendors and media & advertising partners to ensure that we are not doing business with anyone who falls on the wrong side of this issue.
- We believe in a diverse workforce and will ensure we are all equipped with appropriate strategies to combat racism of any kind in our workplace and beyond. These have always been core values, but we will redouble our efforts - from hiring practices to team training & education to pay equality.
- Action matters and conversation matters, but financial support matters too. Alongside each of our Unilever sister brands, DSC will contribute $100,000 to Black Lives Matter. Additionally, for every dollar that our employees collectively donate to this cause, DSC's leadership team will personally match those dollars, up to $25,000.
Until then, we stand in solidarity with those impacted by systemic racism and violence, and those fighting against it. We hear you, we see you, we are with you.

Uh, right. Fantasy land just throwing out comments with no basis. Glad I don’t purchase from these guys as it would be another from which I would withdraw.
