So debt ceiling could be resolved if Democrats agree to spend less, but they won't?

What I've been hearing is that Republicans are holding firm because they want more cuts, and Democrats are refusing to spend less money we don't have to begin with and blaming it on Republicans?

Is this accurate or inaccurate?

Spot on except I'll be surprised if the R's don't cave.

I'm hopeful, but not optimistic, based on past performance.

Which side blinks first? My guess Republicans will cave.

Not spend less. Agree to a cut in the increase of spending increases

They will offer some honey money to some rhinos, they will cross the aisle and we will end up spending more money than originally budgeted before all this started.

Manchin got backstabbed and they did not give his constituency the money promised....months later they dropped a suitcase on his wife's doorstep for the "agency/ngo she runs.

Trini remembers.

It's always drove me nuts that Dem fearmongers call smaller increases cuts and people lap it up.

The Dems are like Wimpy on Popeye.
They always promise to pay later for something they get today.

This is pretty much how it’s always been.

If we had a functioning government that truly cared about the citizens who pay taxes, they would institute a 1% cut per year in spending for the next 50 years. Then, have a balanced budget amendment that kicks in from then on.

This will never happen, but one can dream theoretically.
