IBFreeman, Perhaps you should read this article before you claim that the government of China is not involved in this - Who’s behind the Chinese takeover of world’s biggest pork producer?

I read that. Did you? The Chinese government does not own this company. That is clear in the article.

If you don’t understand that the CCP has a hand in every single business venture involving a company that’s in any way financially connected to mainland China, you truly are a total dumbass.

It was not you that called me a commie. I was wrong.

You are nonetheless advocating for tyrannical government seizure of private property.

Regardless of how you define it the path to allowing and in your case advocating for the government having the power to seize private property is a STUPID, SHORT SIDED thing to do.

Stupid.

It is a path to serfdom.

Cartoons to help you understand you are advocating for a "Road to Serfdom"

Smithfield Farms, the largest pork producing farm in the USA was sold recently to WH Group China with the unanimous support of its stockholders!! The hogs will still be raised and slaughtered here, but the carcasses shipped to China to be cut up and packaged for sale there before being sent back here. This includes labels of Smithfield, Morrell, Eckrich, Krakus, Cudahy, Farmland, Premium Hams, Cook's, Gwaltney, Pure Farms, Dinner Bell, Maple River, Mayrose, Ranch Brand, Raath, Sunnyland, Yorkshire Farm, and many more for a total of 51 labels shown on their website. BRANDS & PRODUCTS
“Our well-known household brands

The same with many chickens. They can now be shipped there, but when they come back all that needs to be labeled is that they WERE RAISED IN THE USA. Not that they were processed in China!!! Our great FDA at work again. The chickens will be all processed and most sold to fast food restaurants for sandwiches, along with schools and supermarkets. The China slaughter and processing are not nearly equal to the requirements here.

Let’s see you believe fresh pork is slaughtered here sent to China for thirty minutes of butchering and returned to the USA for sale on our shelves? Got it.

What were those people at that plant doing??

This DOES sound a bit bizarre. Sounds like a logistical nightmare.

First line in the article says this:

Smithfield Foods, the world’s largest pork producer, was acquired by a Chinese firm in 2013 for nearly $5 billion -- more than the company’s market value.

It’s almost like China will dump as much capital as it takes to get their foot in the door.
