So whats more likely at this point?

That CHYNA released a virus to purposely tank their economy?

Or that they drummed up a "deadly" virus as a pretext to quell the protests in Hong Kong? And, of course, because so many of our politicians (Hi Diane, Nancy, et al) and academia ( hello, harvard!) and the acela corridor (hello, think tanks!) are up to their arse in Chinese money, they happily went along with the subterfuge?

Keep in mind, Trump is bad for them. Trump wants to weaken China to strengthen the USA and that is going to make a lot of people's pockets a lot lighter.

I keep talking about CALPers. Its not trump that will be on the hook for what they've done to that pension fund. But those old timers will sure as shite blame the people that fricked their retirement accounts. And that is how they will turn Cali back red again. book it.

I'm leaning this way - they took a short-term hit for the long-term gain of ending the HK protests without a Tiananmen Square on steroids.

If some of those leaders ultimately disappear, they can blame the Kung Flu. It's win-win after the economic hit.

This news if true is absolute DISASTER for the Democratic Party of the USA. They are crying in their Chablis right now. My message to them: It'll be OK, little buddy. Trump will save us all. Even you little Marxists.

But what Singapore is showing the world...

As anyone who has ever visited there knows, Singapore shows the world the way in lots of areas.

They have excellent health care and hospitals. Very clean, low crime, high standard of living per capita. Christians, Buddhists, Hindus, and Moslems in large numbers living peacefully in a society because they're more interested in making money than making conflict. Absolutely no surprise that they would be out front on this.

Starbucks is starting to reopen stores in parts of China based on reports from their own representatives in the area which is a good thing.

I tutor Chinese kids online through VIPKids, and some of them are starting to actually be able to venture outside of their apartments. One kid went outside and played soccer with his friends yesterday. They've been cooped up at home for weeks.

They have, essentially, a zero-tolerance policy on any sort of crime. Amazing how if you stick with that over time how well it pays dividends.

America has opted out of low crime by going the other way. We'll see how that works out, I suppose.

One of my factory reps told me there have been no new cases in Shenzhen in the last 11 days. Couldn't find any news stories to back up her claims, but they are back to work.

Your post made me realize the countries hardest hit by COVID-19 are all rabid soccer fanatics.

Could it be that soccer causes COVID-19?? Hmmm??

You realize wrong. Basketball is the most popular sport in China, followed by table tennis.

Remember this guy?

I have a buddy who worked at Singapore American School and taught MIchael Fay, the American teen caned for vandalizing cars. He said there was never a more deserving person.
