Singapore Emerges as Litmus Test for Coronavirus Containment
By Philip Heijmans

• Patient recoveries are starting to outpace new cases
• Nation could show the virus is not as deadly as feared
As the novel coronavirus starts to gather speed in Europe, the Middle East and the U.S., there’s one place it is seemingly being contained: Singapore.
With no reported virus-related deaths despite 98 cases, and a slowing rate of infection that’s been outpaced by recoveries, the Asian city-state is emerging as a litmus test of whether the deadly pathogen can be, if not contained, then neutralized.
...
In a recorded address earlier this month, Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong reassured Singaporeans that the city had enough supplies and that the virus didn’t appear as deadly as SARS, meaning that most people would likely experience a minor illness even if they contracted it. The population has been noticeably calmer since.
...
But what Singapore is showing the world is that when all the stars are aligned, the virus may not be as uncontrollable as feared.
The situation “tells you a lot about Singapore’s health care system and their confidence,” said Sepkowitz.

I read yesterday that new cases outside China are outpacing new cases in China. This hysteria was driven by the media. GMA is opened up with CV stories. All scare tactics to drive people to the TV.

Shocked news is shocking....... it’s amazing what happens when the media waits till facts come out to report

Good. Hopefully we will get some good news out of Singapore in a few weeks. Keep in mind that almost every aspect of Singapore’s society - from crime to infrastructure to health care - is equal to or ahead of the United States at this point.

i.e. do not mess with our panic
Singapore doesn't have democrats to instill panic

Yep.
With increased testing of infected, more of the less critical will be positive and less people will die.
The mortality rate will begin to fall.

new cases in China
Now that doesn't mean China is not suddenly telling the truth. But they've produced too much BS for me to place faith in any claim they make.

Indeed it is. If I ever felt the need to move to another country, Singapore would likely be the place.
The deaths in other countries are all about poor healthcare. People die of some pretty innocuous causes in these countries. This is nothing but dishonest, fear mongering bs by the media.

i did love the far left memes that came from this
the obvious one (poor people without healthcare will die!) was obvious, but turning it into "this will show why we need mandatory paid sick leave "was pretty bold. that was the one i kept seeing pushed yesterday hard

All due to the media
When the dust settles on this RR's sister needs to be reassigned to study virus growth at the North Pole.

Starbucks is starting to reopen stores in parts of China based on reports from their own representatives in the area which is a good thing.

I wish I was in the infection control mask business right now. I saw that a bandana could work in a pinch.

That would work as well but that would give the Dems more peach mint rhetoric. Make her arse quit.

I think RR's sister needs her arse handed to her out the door and a very public shaming and apology is warranted.
