I am sure there is some metric somewhere some egghead could show that says bringing a bunch of Indians ultimately makes Google a little more efficient in certain areas.
But who cares? Are we a country or not? Or are we just this hyper-effficiency obsessed economic zone.
Thinking like this will make America fall behind China and possibly lose the USD as the world's reserve currently a lot faster than our federal-public debt will.
The question is what kind of country you want. Do you want to think like Russia and devolve your economy/SOL or maintain our status as the world's lone superpower?

And its downvoted 7-1 which makes me believe none of the downvoters know what they are talking about.

One of the developers who got laid off with me back in February in favor of H1B Indians has still been unable to find a job.
He served in Iraq and took a bullet for this country. He served because so he could pay to go to college at University of Georgia and get his degree in a STEM field.
Please tell me more about his bad choices explaining why he is still unemployed. Granted he didn't do what I did and expand his search beyond DFW, but granted he is married with a couple of kids which makes it harder - still, its been 10 months for him. Tell me about how he is dumb, lazy and unqualified while Rajesh and Praneel are.

H1B's at their purest form everyone should probably agree with.
HOWEVER
The only people saying its not wildly abused are the hiring Indian Managers and PE Stakeholders

Its amazing how many people make a comfortable living off the black market or handouts.

This is non-responsive to my comment
I responded to one speaking of manufacturing the qualified people you're referencing, so it does not logically follow to respond to me discuss those who already are qualified.

I will when you respond appropriately and logically and follow the conversation at hand

On this board and it's high population of emotional thinkers, that's a bad standard

Is that really the only problem?
Or is DEI and affirmative action also allowing those immigrant "minorities" to cut in line ahead of those Americans you mentioned?

They want indians bc they are cheap.
The indians also lie on their applications.
We ARE NOT taking in the brightest!!

It would take a generation or two to rid the progressive brainwashed trash from our country. its likely an impossible task to be honest. these people are talking politics to their 2 year olds on the daily. not sure how you would even begin to get these people to change their mind especially if they only double down after the last 4 years.
I totally get it's a hard path but doesn't mean we give up and just do what we know won't fix the problem at all and just continue to make it worse. It ain't going away so we need to face it head on and get it done v

How about stop supporting a federal govt that prices Americans out of global markets.

I'm kind of on the fence on this issue. If a tech company can pay an H1B from India $20k to do what your developer would for $100k, why does he deserve the job? That said, I feel the program is artificially creating these conditions, so I'm not sure this is really free markets at work.

It's not a myth. It's been analyzed and reported for years. Some of you just want to put your head in the sand. The Left and the Right have reported on this for years.

It's simply taking advantage of corruption of shite hole countries. End of story. If India was coherent then they'd have their own industry.
The greatest gift to American corporations is the desperation of people from absolute dumpster fire countries.

Seeing wages were 20 an hour plus just a couple of years ago and we couldnt get people to work tells me it is indeed a myth.

He made more than $100k. His job was offshored, not replaced onsite like mine was. So he didn't have to stick around for his severance like I did. When we got laid off we were told to meet our bosses in meeting rooms and he went into the room next to mine. I took mine pretty calmly but I could hear him screaming. He moved his entire family to DFW from Georgia and they laid him off after a mere 6 months on the job because Boston Consulting Group said he was too expensive. Way to treat a veteran who served in Iraq.
H1B is not the free market at work. It's a way for companies to skirt labor laws and worker protections. It's the indentured servitude model.

That's all crazy and sucks to hear for you man.
Mind if I ask what your expertise is, and type of work you were looking for?
H1Bs are definitely abused and that needs to stop.

Fair point but not for this discussion. We are talking about the US market, not a global market. Every nation has its own market. Wages are different, quality of living, etc. Our market and those that grew up in it are being tossed out like trash so billionaires can hire cheap labor.
