How about we start with the rights the NFL has already taken away? Celebrating the way one wants to after scoring, what socks to wear,

I think the NFL has every right to have a uniform standard. Lots of companies have strict dress codes.

What if a bunch of white players used American sign language for 'rock' and when asked why, they explained they were celebrating the Mayflower Pilgrims founding of the Plymouth Colony?

It would look too similar to the Black Power fist. I heard the ok sign is racist? Maybe they could use it?

oodell, ironically, is the one who really has no real authority to police the anthem behavior, at least the behavior we've seen (guy can't go ripping up the flag). So if a player did what you're, then it would be the owner who would ultimately make a decision.

You keep repeating this in every topic and it just isn't true.

From the personal conduct policy:

quote:

Conduct that undermines or puts at risk the integrity of the NFL, NFL clubs, or NFL personnel

The nflpa allowed this ridiculously broad language in the policy, and no one can deny this idiocy has hurt the leagues integirty.

The Black Power fist pisses me off more than kneeling. That should be considered a direct racist divisive move.

If you use the language of Cultural Marxism it's " Free Speech ". If you use the language of Liberty it's "Hate Speech". That's how thoroughly they have corrupted the culture.

I'm surprised that this isn't getting more play than the kneeling angle.

I keep repeating it because people use the uniform violations as a gotcha.

Yes Goodell could probably use this authority to intervene, since it's so broad and ambiguous. But because it's broad and ambiguous, it usually involves and lengthy process, a lot of resources, with appeals and even court cases.

NFL Conduct Procedures

So for those who merely protest the anthem, it's not reasonable to expect the commissioner to intervene.

The reason he has that power is because the players in the NFLPA decided the issues that normally cover that, are not applicable to the vast majority of the players, so other parts were more important.
