Would every one of them submit to a check? How bout a check for felonies? If you are open carrying at at state park, I think it is reasonable to be checked. They can't be stupid enough to be open carrying illegally, can they?

This is some next level boot licking going on

And people wonder why we have gun laws that we do

What possible cause would you have to believe any of them were not properly licensed? What possible constitutional reason would it be okay to go around checking papers on public lands?

What you just typed is fricking terrifying

The funniest thing about the confrontation between them and the driver is the dude that was standing there talking shite while holding two AR’s.

0:38 in the video linked. Are they taped together?

Cops already do that shite daily.

So do DNR wardens.

No, it's not right.

*I can't count the number of times I have been asked for registration papers for my snowmobile by wardens. There is a sticker on the sled for a reason, yet they ask. And no, I was doing nothing wrong. They sit at gas stations waiting for sleds to come in.

Maybe none.

From other reporting:

"A number of the protest leaders, who said they are not affiliated with the Black Lives Matter movement, but rather the "Not F***ing Around Coalition," repeatedly challenged white supremacists to come out and confront them at the site of the monument, but there were none to be seen."

Sounds like a situation to reasonably check GFLs for anybody present open carrying.

Also from other reporting:

quote:

Stone Mountain State Park officials said the Black militia group was peaceful, orderly and escorted by police as they called for the removal of the country's largest Confederate monument near Atlanta.

quote:

He added that he must commend Stone Mountain police for offering the all-Black militia support as they exercised their constitutional rights on July 4th.

First you say they didn’t block the road, then you sat they drove around. Around what?
There was a Twitter video early today in a thread, that has since been taken down, and the armed men were definitely blocking the road and demanding reparations.
But I suppose you think it’s ok for armed citizens to demand reparations from passengers headed to a park?

I know reports say it has been peaceful. Happy to hear that.

They stated they were there to counter protest because White Supremacists are there, but is that the whole story?

If the intimidation that folks have mentioned is true, that makes it more than exercising their 2A rights and protesting. I'd want to know if that is true, and who was involved. And I'd damn sure make sure they were legal.

So the popo checked the permits? Then that part is good. I have no problem with the weapons. Harassing and intimidating is another issue.

Will the park police go back and address that. Probably not.

Why would police go around checking permits?

Georgia State Law

quote:

(b) A person carrying a weapon shall not be subject to detention for the sole purpose of investigating whether such person has a weapons carry license.

I agree 100% with what you said if no one was intimidated and no threats were made.

Nothing I have seen seems to amount to a threat, but I am not sure I saw everything. No problem with open carry if you aren't being an a-hole.

Second amendment...

I have no issue with what people do. If you are mad, go get you some weapons and counter protest.

If we are looking at effective gun violence reduction methods, it should be strongly considered.

Isn't the monument on private land and was privately funded?
