Congress needs to pass voter ID laws. A stipulation should be a test in order to receive the ID. Basic laws and history on the test. If you can’t pass you don’t vote.

Why not? If you don’t know basic laws. You surely shouldn’t decide the direction of the country.

In the past the test were used to screen for race. Even if a black person could answer correctly they were told they were wrong.

If you did multiple choice on Scantron sheet, and graded by machine, racial bias could be eliminated.

If there is a test it should be on the policies of each side. Half of the democrats just know orange man bad but they don’t know what they are voting for.

I'm perfectly fine with competency tests. It'll hurt both sides.

I'm a firm believer that less people should be voting. Just because you have a pulse, should not guarantee you voting rights. A modicum of intelligence or awareness of current events and basic history should be a minimum prerequisite. If you receive full government assistance and provide less tax dollars than you receive form the Fed, then your vote should be rationed.

I know plenty of dumbasses who could pass a basic history test that I don't want deciding the fate of the country....it just doesn't and shouldn't work that way.

Except, my qualifications would be your output to society, not on your race. If you want people to stop voting themselves more of your taxpayer dollars, then start giving them a stake in the game, and earn their vote.

But i will simply settle for voter ID laws. Seems pretty simple requirement to vote, and to prevent fraud.

I support

VoterID

And you must pass a civics class before you can receive it. You should know the basics of how our government functions before you receive the ability to decide who we select to represent us.

and therein lies one big problem. How the frick do we get a consensus on what determines competency, as it pertains to this right?

It’s quite easy. Both sides think they’re voting for their own interests, when in reality they’re voting against it.

Democrats often vote for their platform because they expect a hand out. But yet it’s the Republicans that give the hand outs (see the stimulus).

Republicans often vote for their platform because they think they’ll economically benefit. But yet there has been two recessions with a Republican in office this millennia.

I had one lady I used to work with that was a die hard Republican. Just blindly followed it. She started taking her Social Security out early in fear that it would disappear if she didn’t. But Trump wants to rid of it.

It amazes me (on both sides) of how little people understand how the world works and how no party is actually correct or going to follow what they believe in.

It absolutely happened. She also believed that there were going to be death panels. Can’t make this stuff up.

I'd go with limiting the vote to:

men only
property owners
no one receiving welfare
no immigrants, legal or illegal
then a competency test

Plato would agree with me.

It will never happen. I'm just stating my wish list. And as long as i'm being unrealistic, i'd forego all qualifications for voting if each individual alive, would practice personal responsibility/accountability.

98% of Republicans would fail at foreign policy since they refuse to explore the world.
