Yes, they should since Jesus Christ is GOD.

“Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus, who, although He existed in the form of God, did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied Himself, taking the form of a bond-servant, and being made in the likeness of men. Being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. For this reason also, God highly exalted Him, and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee will bow, of those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and that every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”

I don’t think it would cross my mind, no. None of my work meetings begin with prayer. Do yours?

That's a good point, but from a Biblical perspective governing is an elevated form of working.

Fair enough, and I am not dogging on prayer or anything. Just when I watched the video it came across as performative, like when municipal meetings and such awkwardly begin with the pledge of allegiance

No, it actually isn't even a little bit of a myth.

How so? The Constitution did not establish Christianity as an official religion of the US.

Here is further reading from the AP, since it doesn't seem my other links were sufficient for you. LINK

You really don't know much about our (rich) history do you.

Palatable. You've proven it in less than 20 posts.

What would Trump be trying to gain by going against the grain with something like this, when simply going with the status quo, i.e. just “quietly” avoiding the practice altogether, as has been most common practice in similar scenarios..? That would certainly be the “easiest” and most convenient approach, yes no, no yes? Seems like an act involving determination, sí no, no sí? Some folks might even read “determination” in that context as “principle,” oui no??

For me, the high point was President Trump referring to the prayer as "saying Grace."

Well they had better, if they claim to be Christian. “If you deny me, I will deny you”.

We aren't going to act like we believe Trump is religious, are we?

Lol. Because I asked the question, you think I am against Christian prayer in Cabinet meetings. No one said you weren't funny.

Also, despite you knowing me so well, I will take you up on your bet that I want Trump to translate everything into Spanish. How much do you want to bet?

If You don’t proclaim Jesus died on the cross, You are not fit to be president.

This seems like it would be hard to answer, but to me it is simple.

The USA was founded on basic Christian principals, but at the same time held that religion and State should be held separate. In so doing, the State could not establish a religion for all to subjugate to. While at the time of establishment most were Protestant, Catholic, or some version of "Christian", the founders realized that establishment of "one religion" would destroy what they were seeking to establish. To this end, they got it right. Religion has probably been the cause of most wars since the dawn of time.

Back on subject, the prayer didn't call every citizen to pray to, nor call Jesus Christ their Lord and Savior. If a Rabbi prays at the next meeting, I'm not becoming Jewish, nor if a Muslim prays at the following one am I following Allah.

Prayer is good for the soul and our politicians need soul healing.
