People on h1b’s should be subsidizing American’s mortgages if they have to be here at all.

I cant think of a good reason to prevent foreign investment in real property

I can. What percentage of a county or city are you okay with a foreign government owning?

Its un-American to discriminate against them.

No, it's not. There's absolutely nothing American about handing over one of our most valuable resources (our land) to citizens, businesses nor governments of other countries.

But a free market is only made stronger by foreign competition.

How exactly is the free market made stronger by selling its land to foreigners like China, who manipulate their currency and set up places for birth tourism? How about when the Chinese government was using properties owned by Chinese businesses and community organizations to house their own secret police stations here in the US?

A year or three ago people were worried to hell about companies like Blackrock becoming major (or majority) shareholders in companies specializing in buying homes to make them rentals as well as creating whole neighborhoods of rental homes (Invitation Homes, American Homes 4 Rent, etc). Through them, companies like Vanguard own ~3%-5% of all single-family homes in the US, with up to 15%-25% in some metro areas (like Atlanta and Phoenix). Those companies are focused on profits, thus limited by it. What happens when a foreign government uses front businesses and groups (like China did for their secret police HQs) to set up swaths of Section 8 rentals? At that point we are literally funding that government in slowly buying up regions of our cities.

Understanding the benefits of free market capitalism is incredibly important for economic growth and stability. However, that doesn't mean to ignore when it can be used as a noose. For perhaps the first time in history we know live in a time where foreign governments have the money and access to be able to use that against us.

No.

We should prioritize American citizens getting the education to qualify for and prioritize hiring them.
