I think grandparents should be exempt from school property taxes.

They tax us to our coffins we shouldn't have to pay for schools unless we have a kid in them.

Come to think of it property taxes are a crime. Abolish them or make them a small amount for roads, and 911.

There is an ancient case on this. SCOTUS said we can't do that.

I doubt it would be that drastic especially in comparison to social spending. Obviously only tax payers would be able to allocate. Who do you think pays taxes in America?

This is completely unpracticable. So no, you shouldn’t be able to dedicate your tax dollars. The government would never be able to set the budget, and the fast majority of social programs would be drastically underfunded.

We'd wind up with excesses in areas where we don't need it and short falls in areas where funding is needed

So that tells us that we can cut taxes (programs people want are over funded) and cut programs (people don’t want them if they won’t pay for them)

Seems like a wonderful feedback mechanism

This idea might get a bit complicated.
I would earmark all of my taxes to go to the legal defense of male college students accused of rape.
See what I mean?

So what do you when millions opt out of supporting the military because a) they're left wingers or b) they're conservatives who want to make a statement against foolish spending or foolish foreign interventions?

The hell it wouldn't. And is it worth it if both get cut drastically?

This 100%. If no one wants to fund it, then we don’t need it.
