Should Americans be able to allocate how their taxes are spent?

Hypothetically, I think we should be able to dedicate however much we are taxed towards programs we support. For example, instead of using any funds to subsidize welfare for lazy bums, I wish I could dedicate 100% of the taxes generated by my household for the Trump Wall.
Give us, as individuals, the chance to opt out funding crap we don't care about, like African food aid, free college programs, Planned Parenthood, etc.

I could 100% go along with this.

If marxism is made voluntary, that will be the end of marxism.
So yeah, make it voluntary.

No, because at leas 70% of mine would go to NASA and none to entitlement spending.

Awful idea if you're talking about all of your taxes
If you wanted to have control over a smaller portion it might make some sense
We'd wind up with excesses in areas where we don't need it and short falls in areas where funding is needed

Isn’t this basically the right to vote?
I mean - I’m not sure where in the constitution it allows the Government to tax everyone for bullshite - still run a defecit - and that get re-elected for 47 years until ol reaper comes knocking?

It sounds like a nice idea on it's face, but this would definitely happen:
Some form of it would be nice though. Maybe a tier system, with provisions that certain things don't get over funded.

I like it in principle.
Not sure how it would work on practice. Would you be limited to defunding entire departments or could you drill down to line items?

You wouldn’t spend any on education? Color me shocked.

Not going to lie I'm going with the Founders on this one. Not Parmen

Respectfully Hell No!! This is an asinine argument. Although I will completely agree that no one is qualified to make these decisions in the time we live in. No good stewards left I’m afraid. Sad

If we actually returned to the Constitution, and strictly applied it to all three branches of government, there would be no need.
Imagine a world where congress limits itself, or is checked by the executive or judiciary branch, because the Constitution does not grant them power over healthcare for example. Imagine the Supreme Court limiting itself to Constitutional bounds, refusing to hear cases the Constitution does not grant them dominion over. Imagine a federal government with 75-85 percent fewer agencies, and the resulting destruction of the bureaucracies, laws, regulations, and edicts that those bureaucracies have created in the last 150 years or so.
All our answers are in the Constitution. It is one of the greatest documents ever put to paper by mankind. Independence Day would be a great time to actually read it, soak in it’s unparalleled brilliance, and ponder the implications of returning it to it’s rightful place as the law of the land.

No, I’m already spending 15 grand a year to send my kids to private school.

Which then brings the question is it needed?
It would be interesting to see where the people want money spent vs the waste of the gov

I am going to have to think about this. It is more of a direct democracy model than a respresentative republic model. Also, keep in mind that as divided as we are, that for every one of us that would fund the wall, there is a lefty that will defund ICE and send it all to the Department of Education and Refugee Resettlement.
So I am going to say no. Bad idea.

I think a percentage should go to things that we have to pay like military and politicians pay. But we should be able to spend atleast half of it .
It would be a good way to find out what the tax payers really want . Democrats would never go for this because their entitlement programs would run out of money fast . Plus the wall would be funded in 2 years maybe even 1 .
