It’s not “gun vernacular”. It’s the correct name for the part. If you go to an auto shop and have coolant gushing from your water pump and keep calling it an alternator.. the mechanics are going to think you are an idiot. It does matter. Congressmen and Senators try to ban any piece of firearm they can any chance they get so technical terminology does matter.
What's a bump stock? Don't worry, Congress doesn't know either but they want to ban it. They want to ban certain types of muzzle devices, suppressors (commonly called silencers, but aren't really silencers as they are intending to suppress flash in a dark environment)
You cannot have MAGAZINE that has over 10 rounds in California, not sure about "clips" though.
None of it makes any sense because if someone is willing to commit murder, then they won't change their mind because because they all of a sudden can't have a 30 round magazine.
What's an SBR? How is it different from any AR15? Neither are an "assault rifle" but Congress thinks both are, when they technically classified one as a pistol.
Being technical with firearms does matter because so many in this country want to ban something they have no knowledge of.
