Not really. The GOPe made it clear that they wanted a post-Trump future, even while Trump was president. Running in the primary against Trump was the most establishment-aligned thing DeSantis has done in his political career, and it was a mistake that will probably cost him any presidential aspirations in the future. One of these days, republican politicians are going to realize that if they want to be successful, the first step is finding out the republican establishment position, and then doing the exact opposite. They have been the Washington Generals for so long, they think losing is winning.

I hope DeSantis can come back, because I think he is an actual conservative, and one of the very few left. But he needs to distance himself from the GOPe, and come back as a more authentic candidate when the time is right.

Of course there’s a path. He’s been an extremely successful Governor.

He and Vance will have to duke it out for sure, but I’ll gladly pull the lever for either one in 2028.

Has to declare and run for nomination. That's how it has always worked.

every election will be a change election. Vance will take damage from the endless onslaught of bullshite aimed at Trump over the next few years. Ron is a skilled politician with real skins on the wall. He's the version of Trump we all wanted from the beginning. He will be the front runner, IMV.

I mean he probably has 30 years to find a cycle to run but don’t see how 2028 is one of them since Vance will get it if things are going well and if things aren’t going well why would anybody else want it. I see the 2028 GOP ticket as Vance with either Tim Scott or the newly elected governor of NHamp as his running mate

A lot depends on if Trump lives to finish his term (I wish him well and hope he does). If Vance is VP it will be a battle with RD, BUT if Vance becomes Pres, then RD will have to wait 8 years to run again.

And that's why it's retarded for conservatives to cross him off their list as some "WEF stooge".

2020 was always his only logical shot.

That's why he tried to run this year.
