And Manafort's phone notes on the meeting say otherwise.

Right, it doesn't sound like it was a setup to overtly prevent a specific outcome of the election, especially one they were confident would never happen.
It sounds like more of an insurance policy, in case that unthinkable outcome did happen. Like life insurance in case you die before the age of 40.
