S.3589 - Preventing Private Paramilitary Activity Act of 2024

Some selected text as follows:
quote:

“(a) Offense.—It shall be unlawful to knowingly, in a circumstance described in subsection (b), while acting as part of or on behalf of a private paramilitary organization and armed with a firearm, explosive or incendiary device, or other dangerous weapon—

quote:

“(1) publically patrol, drill, or engage in techniques capable of causing bodily injury or death;

quote:

(2) interfere with, interrupt, or attempt to interfere with or interrupt government operations or a government proceeding;

quote:

“(4) assume the functions of a law enforcement officer, peace officer, or public official, whether or not acting under color of law, and thereby assert authority or purport to assert authority over another person without the consent of that person; or

quote:

“(5) train to engage in any activity described in paragraphs (1) through (4).

The way this is written, you'll be in big trouble with daddy government if you and three friends go out and practice battle drills. Or you yell "stop, let me see your hands" after pulling your CCW to someone committing an assault.

If the government vilifies something, you should probably be doing it.

Get fit, go train, build relationships with your neighbors, and as always, never trust anyone from the government.

I say let the BIG GOV lovers cosplay as patriots. LOL at the post above about "patriots" fighting to protect a POL. Seems to be where we are at. SAD

I can also read into that if you are "armed" and patrolling your own land looking for trespassers that you could also be breaking the law for that.

Or you yell "stop, let me see your hands" after pulling your CCW to someone committing an assault.

Have been taught repetitiously that if you're going to draw and aim your firearm, you better pull the trigger. And if you're going to pull the trigger, your marksmanship must be judicious. If you meet both of the above guidelines, your target should be deceased.

Exercise good judgement. This is a messed up period in time in which you can and will be sued into oblivion, cancelled and possibly even incarcerated long-term for simply pointing a weapon at someone. Mostly it will vary based on your area, but all it takes is one hotshot liberal DA to not let me what you did, and pursue charges which will at the very minimum cost you thousands of dollars in legal fees to be justly absolved of wrongdoing, and at most will result in years or decades of imprisonment after expending all your savings and liquidating all your assets for legal fees trying to prove your innocence.

I know it's off topic, but you're better off not pulling your CCW than pulling it as an "intimidation" or "interruptive" tactic. And if you do shoot someone, shoot to kill, and even after they're down make a valiant attempt to perform life saving measures.

...

On topic though, it's quite clear that Bill S.3589 has been drawn up to target anyone who doesn't want to rely solely on government officials to protect them. People who wish to learn the skills to tactically defend themselves will be out of luck. Mrs. Axe and I have taken armed and unarmed tactical defense classes, and that would be illegal after passage of this bill.

If you really break down the very loose definitions and statements such as:
quote:

techniques capable of causing bodily injury or death;

...you can see that it's complete bullshite.

A punch is very capable of causing great bodily harm and death. Will every Jiujitsu dojo have to shut down? Does Sensei Hannity's training classify him as an illegal weapon? This is a dangerously slippery slope.

This should never become law. Not under any circumstances.
