shite like that sounds like a good idea today but as soon as the democrats take back power, they will ram everything down our throats and we will be forced to like it. frick that! Play by the rules, get shite done by the rules.

I'm hesitant on scrapping the filibuater altogether but voter ID is the most important issue in the history of the Republic. We can't allow the Vile to keep cheating. The 4th Estate was supposed to be the bulwark but they haven't just abandoned their post they have turned their coats. I hope they find a better way to pass it but pass it by any means necessary. The Republic is at stake.

I am willing to have Tejas reelect Cornyn if the Senate passes the SAVE America Act.
And some wonder why we have life-long congressional careers....

The SAVE America Act is perhaps the most significant piece of legislation since the Civil Rights Act and the Voting Rights Acts. Passing it is worth reelecting a RINO.

It's definitely the largest incursion into state's rights for elections since those acts.

Nah. Good chance a lot of it gets neutered by the courts. But it's unsurprising that someone that want more federal government power has no problem with electing a RINO. The Uni-Party tnaks you for your service.

Cornyn is feeling election heat, but it's still just a game.

Cornyn when the SAVE Act doesn't pass.

Yeah... frick Cornyn. What should be getting folks attention is the total lack of Republican support for this to happen.
If Republican Senators truly represent their voters, all of em would be raising hell about this. We the people need to elect better congressional representation. If its a substitute teacher from Shreveport (which I voted for instead of Mike Johnson) or whatever.... we'd be better off with simple minded tax paying folks than these corrupt cowards that we keep electing.

Cassidy been pushing for SAVE America Act passed on his Bookface quite a bit lately too.

They are all allegedly "pushing" while the path is right in front of them.

This is complete bullshite. They don't need to scrap the filibuster.

Cornyn and Cassidy think we are stupid. They have no intention of passing this.

Something is going on. Help from an unlikely source?

Cornyn is up for re-election and is in a runoff for the GOP senate primary with Ken Paxton and Paxton has a small edge in the race.

GOP would like to avoid the Paxton vs Cornyn runoff because it'll be expensive and the winner is still coming out damaged from all the campaign ad mudslinging. Trump wants one of them to withdraw from the race so the GOP can focus all the money and campaign attacks on beating Talarico (democrat candidate) instead of having a drawn out, messy, and expensive GOP primary fight.

Paxton indicated he might be willing to consider dropping out of the race if Cornyn and Thune would get the SAVE Act passed. That's why Cornyn is suddenly in favor of nuking the filibuster to pass it.

Correct me if I'm wrong. Don't they need 60 votes to end debate?
Unless they go nuclear and change the rules for simple majority, they need 60 votes to get to a vote correct?

Trump needs to attach getting rid of Thune first before any signing.

That ain't happening. Thune is the GOPe/uniparty/Deep State's guy and he's doing exactly what they want him to do. They will circle the wagons for him.

Which is what they should do. But Cornyn is basically mini Thune. Why would he write an Op Ed like this?

You serious? So he can lie posture to his constituents like he actually wants to pass the SAVE Act and... He can say he "tried" to pass it.

The bill that passed the house has privilege and can't be debated. So if they bring that bill to a Senate vote, they only need 51 and nobody can block the vote.

Since they did their own bill, it needs 60 votes to get past debate.

The reason they don't just vote on the House bill is Thune doesn't want his scumbag R colleagues who would vote against it outed as scumbags. I guess he thinks we don't already know.
