Why is the high ground not being secured?

A nine year old playing Fortnite knows it’s all about the high ground.

I hate to arm chair QB, but a very quick drone sweep of the roofs before he took stage could have prevented this.

All security needs to be revamped, we are in a new age where the severe mentally ill antifa/trans/average democrat voter will assassinate anyone they disagree with politically.

This argument would fly (no pun intended) before the edge of drones.

No reason someone can’t fly a drone around looking at the tops of buildings. It’s a different world now and security has yet to adapt.

Exactly.... We film football games with drones... no reason we can't run security detail with them.

have we found out if he was on the roof when he shot or whether he shot from a room within a building?

I'm not sure which is worse but it's one of the two for sure.

I do think we've send the end of outdoor events like this. So much more difficult to provide security outside than inside an arena.

Agreed

Now that this has happened anyone that is really big in that space isn't going to want to do outdoor events IMO

What a sad state of affairs that you need security to sweep the rooftops just to have a debate.

The news is showing drone footage of his supposed position on the roof and the impressions he left in the pea gravel up there. Also, there is a video being played of someone focusing on what appears to be a person prone on the roof

Ive got a buddy with 1 drone that could watch that whole place and make sure noone was on a building withing shooting range.

I just dont get it either. Just like PA. Easy fix. Common sense. stuff.

Well, this wasn’t a politician. Im sure they get different security measures. He possibly paid for his own security.

Although, it was a political figure. Idk how you could fully blame security.

I have my drone sitting in front of me at the moment. With five batteries I can fly continuously with ~2min breaks to swap them out. I’ve flown for over four hours on a well blowout

This thread is an emotional response thread. It's understandable that people are emotional and looking for something to blame....but it's just a thread created out of emotion.

Not blaming anyone. But, obviously, this is something that needs to be considered and likely should have been after Butler. He does have security and he did have police presence. Securing roof access the day before is not hard

Drone before event does not matter as you could access during event. A shooter would not want to be up there long.

This was very close to an airport. You would have to have tower clearance to fly and probably would have a height restriction of around 50 feet.

Getting tower clearance is easy. I’ve done it all over Houston. And 200+ feet is standard.

In hindsight bullet proof glass at these outdoor events...like POTUS does.
