The rats are everywhere in DC and until they show their true color you cant just fire them.

That’s exactly what project 2025 was setup to do.
They were bringing in experienced trained and vetted conservative private senior and middle managers into every agency. The plan was to staff up the agencies with these limited new hires who went through classes showing them how to identify the activists and how to bury them within the rules so they couldn’t cause trouble until they could be removed or downsized.
In addition there were thousands of pages of agenda items that were planned to be enacted within the first year.
Instead Trump listened to certain people in his circle, opted out and now he can’t even get his subcabinet picks approved by Thune/Congress so he has virtually no oversight of some of these agencies beyond the top level political appointee so there is almost no institutional control of FedGov beyond top level policy.
It’s like executing a hostile takeover and leaving all the angry legacy people in positions of authority with no oversight: they’re going to stab you in the back every time they get the chance.
