re: Seattle votes to tax businesses to pay for homeless

This tax is a horrible idea, which will hopefully be barred by the state. But on the plus side, people in Seattle are finally pissed. This pushed people too far. The public is overwhelmingly against this tax and pretty angry that the council passed it despite their protests. I think you'll see a large number of the council members who supported this voted out next year.

Lol ok. Seattle elects actual socialists and now they’re all of a sudden pissed?

Most of Boeing's ops are outside of Seattle so not much affect on them.
The actual plants out there are in Renton right alongside I-5 and up in Everett. The HQ is in Chicago, and their other large operation is in South Carolina. This won't affect Boeing and in fact probably helps them as commercial real estate in Renton and Everett just got more expensive.

Yep, the article linked by the OP said only 3% of the stores would be affected by this new law.
Yeah, right, Seattle Commission clowns. Look for higher prices for the consumers from that 3%.
It's lying of the highest order. What these commissioner clowns said was that it "affects 3% of businesses" or something along those lines.
What those idiots deliberately left out was that it is the largest 3% of businesses in the city and those businesses probably comprise many multiples of that as a % of workers in Seattle (probably 25+%). What they include in that total denominator are things like bars, restaurants, dry cleaners, ice cream stores, etc., etc., not just major companies.

Is Seattle trying to ruin their economy? Because this is how you ruin your economy.

I think this applies well to Amazon and Starbucks

Reason #8,703,821,864 not to live in Seattle

I've been saying it, i honestly believe that Amazon's HQ2 agenda isn't about finding a 2nd headquarters, but more about simply finding a new 1st headquarters to replace their Seattle HQ. You watch, they are going to be the first of these West Coast giants to move to more friendly business climates. This new tax is absolute madness.

The west coast hates business

Shortly before the 2016 election i was in Seattle for work. We went to a sports bar to watch the Saints game. A Trump campaign commercial came on TV and about 90% of the people in the place started booing.
I'm just glad I didn't wear my MAGA hat, I most probably would have been assaulted.

the only problem is these socialist end up moving and vote the same way once they get somewhere more conservative

Watching the local news. Apparently, Seattle spent $200MM last year on the homeless or $17,000 per homeless person and the problem got worse. I have to conclude that means the money that actually reached the homeless was spent making them more comfortable rather than getting them off the streets. I'm sure $20MM more, at the expense of pissing off your largest employers, will do the trick. What a clusterfrick.

Doesn’t even sound legal to pass such a law.

Mabye there is hope for Seattle yet. The comments in this thread on a Seattle Times Article makes me hopeful that some folks are finally rising up against the socialists running that town.
Maybe. Comments are probably from the surrounding metro which isn't nearly as crazy and has been laughing at Seattle proper for years.

Gotcha. You do see a couple of folks in that thread that have swallowed the blue pill and believe the lies. Very perplexing to see them supporting this particular council.

The homeless situation in Seattle is insane, worse than S.F.
They have massive tent cities like refugees in Syria.
