Wait wait wait wait wait......Decatur thought that because FOIA was at the top, it had to be an illegitimate DD-214? Even though it was requested via FOIA?

Bingo

Bet if I requested mine it would have the Privacy Act Statement on it. If good old Don requested mine it would say FOIA.

Tell us more about this.
Not much I can reveal. It involved wearing of badges and tabs not authorized. And it was incredibly easy to spot. In one instance the individual had been told by previous supervisors to produce documentation (format 320 order for the Army) or stop wearing the devices. They did until they moved on to another unit (a common practice I have seen).

Completely stupid and unnecessary in both cases. You do not make SFC (E7) and MSG (E8) if you do not have something going for you.

Crazy a SNCO would hang it out for something like that.

I was a 1LT the first time (they were my platoon sergeant) and it did not really hit me hard when they chose reduction and separation in lieu of court martial. It should have but it didn't.

The second one I was a COL and it made me sick to my stomach to see someone throw away their career over Army bling on their uniform.

You could request a copy of your own I’m but I’m doubting I could get a copy of your form without your consent through FOIA. Now maybe I could get some information from your personnel file through FOIA but I don’t think I’d get a copy of your DD214.

Am I really off here?

Has Elizabeth Warren commented on this guy yet? I need to hear what the woman who lies about being Indian has to say about the lying Indian.

Although more detailed information is available to next of kin and other authorized parties, only a limited amount of information can be released to the general public. Typically, the information released includes rank, dates of services and where the individual in question was stationed.

This doesn’t say they can release the DD214 to the public.

The first form in there looks like what was posted in the video but still...that’s not actually a DD214. Maybe Mr. Shipley was just being careless in his description.

Still doesn’t make much sense how he’d get a response so quickly unless someone made the request at some time in the past prior to last week. I don’t know how likely that is.

Thanks for sharing. Awesome stuff. I guess people become almost mentally dependent on the praise and respect these faux devices/ribbons bring.

Meh, don't care.

So let me get this straight-you don't believe that Shipley has valid information? You are more inclined to believe Nathan Phillips and his story over someone who outs people like this for a living?

Obviously, dude has connections. Regardless of how he got the information I believe every word Shipley is saying.

Not sure what they did afterwards.

It was amazing how both of them fought it until the end. Swore they were authorized their badges and tabs (first one was Combat Medical Badge, Senior Parachutist Badge, Special Forces Tab - second was Combat Action Badge, EOD Badge, Master Parachutist Badge, Ranger Tab, Sapper Tab). Then when charges were referred they folded like a lawn chair.

Begged the CG (25th ID the first, 5th Army the second) for a Chapter 10 from AR 635-200 ILO of a court martial.
