Why is the USSC even entertaining this? With what's been happening with the 4 or 5 leftists on the court, this should concern every gun owner.

We need to question why they accepted these two and why now after rejecting so many others..... we know they should be 2A slam dunks, but is there something buried in the cases to give states a method to uphold these bans ?
I think it has to do with specific wording in the statutes as well as the State-level analogs to the 2nd Amendment. I think CT has the oldest, as well as the most explicit in terms of what it states:
quote:
Sec. 17. Every citizen has a right to bear arms in defence of himself and the state.
I think this was a matter of waiting for past opinions to percolate through the lower courts, seeing the arguments being presented, as well as waiting for the right kind of cases to come before the court that can address this matter more completely. Looking at Miller, Heller, McDonald, Caetano, & Bruen together, there is really little doubt that bans against the types/styles of semiautomatic firearms in question will be finally struck down. I think Thomas will be writing for the majority here and will be looking to author something that not only settles this question well but also provides a framework for future challenges because, and this should be obvious, these Blue states will certainly thumb their noses and do everything they can to thwart the decision. I think the court has to address not only the ability to purchase but ownership, tranfers, manufacturing, repair, registrations, fees/taxes, movement, feature tests, etc.

I don’t feel great about this one considering the picks Trump made to be on the court. His utter incompetence at picking SCOTUS justices is the reason why the birthright citizenship ban was struck down.

This current Court seems to seek out a big case as their grand finale where the libs score a major victory against the patriots of this nation. I fully expect a 5-4 decision where Roberts and ACB frick us over. They’re committed to judicial activism and social engineering because they’re convinced they know what’s best for the rest of us.

So if semi automatic weapons are eventually banned, where do they start looking for them? Small town Oklahoma or South Chicago?

Blue states already infringe on the Second Amendment. I imagine that Red States will ignore any stupid ruling.
