It's all about claiming the senate GOP rushed the trial, it's "unfair", make the senators in blue states vote "Aye" to table all o the Dems amendments for "fairness" so they can use it in ads, and attacks to gain the majority in the senate. Then they can impeach Trump again, and get him removed in 2021.
eta: Schumer was just leaking that there were negotiations for HB and Bolton, and then they will say McConnell rejected the offer because they are hiding something and HB did nothing wrong (therefore Joe Biden did noting wrong).
