"The winds of Katrina blew the cover off America. The hurricane exposed the hypocrisy," Rev. Wright said, "protecting white folks' property took priority over saving black folks' lives." He continued, "This storm called Katrina says far more about a racist government than it does about the wrath of God."

Jesus was a poor black man who lived in a country and who lived in a culture, that was controlled by rich white people! The Romans were rich. The Romans were Italians, which means they were European, which means they were white -- and the Romans ran everything in Jesus' country. It just came to me within the past few weeks, y'all, why so many folk are hatin' on Barack Obama. He doesn't fit the model

Certainly Farrakhan is a racist, but unlike David Duke, he has done some positive things in the community, such as rehabililating young Black men when they get out of prison.
Wait, now you're defending Farrakhan?
Happy New Year!

Honestly, who gives a shite.
If you're keynote speaker to talk about the downfall of the white race, that's one thing. Speaking about tax policy to a group of racists doesn't bother me at all.
As long as we still have the Congressional Black Caucus, some white guy appearing by video feed to talk about tax reform to a group of people who happen to be racist will not set off my outrage alarm.

“In the 21st century, white America got a wake-up call after 9/11/01,” Wright wrote in Trumpet. “White America and the Western world came to realize that people of color had not gone away, faded into the woodwork or just ‘disappeared’ as the Great White West kept on its merry way of ignoring black concerns.
Why when I google search all these quotes no real news outlet shows up not even Fox News shows anything for these quotes. And Fox News is pretty thorough with getting dirt on the president.

If the GOP keeps Scalise in the leadership position then anything it says about reaching out to minorities is garbage.
"I shall never fight in the armed forces with a negro by my side ... Rather I should die a thousand times, and see Old Glory trampled in the dirt never to rise again, than to see this beloved land of ours become degraded by race mongrels, a throwback to the blackest specimen from the wilds."
Imagine if this was uttered by a man who would go on to be the Senate President Pro Temp, Majority Leader and Whip?
Yet this same man received a 100% approval rating from the NAACP. But he was a Democrat and not a Republican so it's all right.

wright may not be a "racist", but he's clearly a panderer at best and a psycho at worst
i don't think he's a good counterpoint to duke, though.

I cant defend Scalise for what we did but anyone that can defend JW for being the race baiter, Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson want to be, is just as ignorant as someone who defends SS.

Can some show me where Jeremiah Wright said anything racist?
In 2012
I thought we were talking about stuff he said before March 18, 2008, when Obama gave his speech defending him. Certainly you can't hold Obama accountable for things he said after May 2008, when he and Michelle had a falling out with Wright at Wright's house.

politics is a game of perception more than anything else. this isn't really excusable in terms of politics
this is like being associated with dirty politicians. same sort of sin. you may not be guilty of tehir actions, but you're tainted

He's a reverend which means he's a charlatan making $$$ off the backs of his black congregation.

Scalise is now linked with David duke. That is a disgrace on Louisiana and it is a disgrace on conservatives.

But do you honestly think he said nothing of the kind prior to 2008?

I'm speaking the truth and you can't handle it, there's no hypocrisy here. Franklin Graham is also a racist, but like Farrakhan, he has some redeeming qualities.

What I wonder is why the hit job now. Who did scalise piss off that it's coming out now. It's got to be from within ranks bc the dem op research crew would have thrown this out years ago.
Landrieu.
Scalise is/was an easy candidate for Vitter's seat when it comes open. This kills his nascent candidacy in the crib.
This stuff would have been worthless against him for his House seat. At worst, it will cost him the whip position (if that - it shouldn't).

That's not what I'm talking about. Politically it is idiotic, but I don't want our people to talk about it on TV from a political perspective. How I'd advise a candidate and how I think we need to stop tripping over ourselves to talk about this as a teachable moment are different.
Some state rep in 2002 spoke to a sketchy group in a sketchy hotel about an innocuous subject. Again, I don't give a shite, and I don't want to see the leadership on This Week saying "Obviously what he did is inexcusable, but I know Scalise's heart..."

Scalise is associated with David dukes group and he didn't turn away from them.
Unlike farakhan and wright, duke is seriously deranged. He went to a holocaust deniers conference with ahmadinejad.
No way will scalise survive this. There's too much crazy for him to contain.
Explain to me how he will be able to gather votes when people won't be taking meetings with him.

Farrakhan has openly advocated violence and the fact that he is still alive is a detriment to American society.

youre a hypocrite because you are not also giving the same benefit of the doubt to other pieces of shite.
they may be racist, but its ok, because they're your racists. being racist isn't the kiss of death for them like your adversaries.
