It would take people with guns to enforce the ban on guns.

We probably have a different understanding of the word, practicality.

We see this rhetoric all the time, and it demonstrates an understanding of the Second Amendment that is (at best) described as “superficial.”

The second Amendment did not create some new right. I was simply a statement that the FEDERAL government should keep its mitts off the right to bear arms, as it then-existed in Anglo-American common law.

If you had suggested to the average American of the late-eighteenth century that law guaranteed his neighbor a right to drag a puckle gun everywhere that he went and at any time, that American would have thought you were insane.

If only there were some universal truths that all societies could adopt, like I dunno, seems there could be like maybe 10 things are universal to mankind, like almost inspired by some kinda Deity or something. Naw, that's just crazy.

I don’t. I am mostly addressing the zealots who see the Second Amendment as “absolute.”

Not universal. Not even 1/3 of humanity believes those.

I'll be honest, this has been a fantastic train wreck of a thread. Just when I thought you couldn't double down on stupid you say something SO asinine such as claiming to know what 1/3 of humanity does or doesn't believe.

To everyone continuing to troll this guy, please don't stop, if this thread can get me to 5 o'clock that would be great. Thanks in advance.

Dumb frick, he’s implying the 10 commandments. He was speaking to Christianity. Sorry you’re too stupid to understand something implied and not implicitly stated.

Saved so you can’t edit your stupidity.

From a practicality standpoint, it would be easiest to ban all guns than have to screen 300 million people to identify the few that will go and shoot up a concert or a school or a mall.

No it wouldn't, not even close. First of all neither scenario is even reasonably attainable (nor would I want to live in a world like this) and it's rediculius to even phrase this as a hypothetical--but I am not going to let you get away with that analogy. Your not ever getting 100 millions guns out of the general population if you banned all guns from now until eternity.

Not that I would hope they ever do it but you could absolutely put metal detectors and TSA type security at all schools, malls, and concerts so you could absolutely do that if you wanted too. Another problem with your analogy is you would not have to screen the entire population, just the ones who chose to enter a particular facility. No, of course I wouldn't want this but to say it's less practical than banning all guns is laughable and exposes you for the bias you have.

So you didn't say you know what 1/3 of humanity believes?

Here's the quote again...where you're DIRECTLY implying you know what 1/3 of humanity believes.

You've been absolutely destroyed in this thread over and over and over...it's been a lot of fun.

I think you'll find that the absolutist stance on 2A is largely a response to being perpetually besieged by those whose true motive is its outright repeal, but who use the tactic of whittling it away piece by piece.

He was speaking of the Ten Commandments.

That’s for Christians.

Earth has 2.2 billion Christians.

Earth has 7.5 billion people.

2.2 / 7.5 = 29%

My statement was “not 1/3”.

You’re a moron.

This is all so good. Please don't stop. I love your math by the way, totally shows what 1/3 of humanity believes.

That’s the actual question. If we can solve that, then the rest of this discussion is moot.

You want to solve it by everyone who wants a gun going to get a psych exam.

Hmm. You mean, like when allowed, people will mass together to vote in politicians that deprive people of freedom?

Why yes. I agree.

Hey you dishonest cocksucker, I didn’t say that was the foolproof solution, but I’ll tell you this, it’s a million times better than your solution of do fricking nothing.

Moron OP has concocted an excellent way to destroy the mental health profession.

The only people who will ever seek even minor help will be people who are involuntarily committed!

Cause we have these resident Stalinists like CollegeFB

I've tried to get him/her to take a firm stance on what constitutes mentally "unfit" for gun ownership.

So far we're still going before a tribunal to have our rights granted or restricted based on someone's opinion.
