San Antonio Spurs coach calls Trump a "souless coward" for fallen soldiers comment

Popovich continued with his criticism of Trump on Monday after the president falsely said that President Barack Obama and President George W. Bush did not call the families of fallen soldiers.
The Spurs coach talked with The Nation's Dave Zirin about the president's comments:
Of all things, why did Trump lie about this?

The Spurs coach talked with The Nation's Dave Zirin about the president's comments:
quote:
I’ve been amazed and disappointed by so much of what this President had said, and his approach to running this country, which seems to be one of just a never ending divisiveness. But his comments today about those who have lost loved ones in times of war and his lies that previous presidents Obama and Bush never contacted their families, is so beyond the pale, I almost don’t have the words.
This man in the Oval Office is a soulless coward who thinks that he can only become large by belittling others. This has of course been a common practice of his, but to do it in this manner–and to lie about how previous Presidents responded to the deaths of soldiers–is as low as it gets. We have a pathological liar in the White House: unfit intellectually, emotionally, and psychologically to hold this office and the whole world knows it, especially those around him every day. The people who work with this President should be ashamed because they know it better than anyone just how unfit he is, and yet they choose to do nothing about it. This is their shame most of all.
Of all things, why did Trump lie about this?

Still hate the Spurs, even though I haven't watched the NBA in a few years

Because he's a narcissistic pathological liar. Next question.

This is the third damn thread on this. Why can't you guys just post in one mega thread?

He perceives Trump as a threat and it drives him crazy that he can't do anything about it. Tough luck for the shooty hoops coach.

This is the sub forum that had two, three pages of NFL protest threads in one day.
Probably learned from the Trumpkins that every person's new fart of a thought seemingly deserves its own special thread around here. Why should the libs be any different?

He's a fricking basketball coach. A good one, but he's a fricking basketball coach.
He's not the voice of his generation or of anyone else except maybe the players he has to kiss arse.

The president is a reality TV star, I don't exactly think appeals to credentialism has any credibility anymore. Especially if you are someone that voted for that reality TV star.
I will add though, Pop is a veteran, so I think he has at least earned the right to weigh in without being dismissed as "just some coach."

Chicken once started a thread asking for suggestions to make the site better and I suggested incorporating mega threads into the poliboard, and if someone starts a thread ith the same subject as the megathread, his op will be moved into the megathread as just another post. Many forums do this.
I'm not sure if you were posting here yet, but when the Bowe Bergdal episode was unfolding, there were probably 100+ threads on it. If you started a thread about something else, it would be on the second page in minutes. Not unlike the scoreboard forum during games.
Another solution, far more unpopular but that is used on some other forums, is to have a mod have to approve a thread before it is posted. This is probably way too risky because mods are biased and it would be unrealistic.

I'm sorry I didn't notice another thread about this. Did you defend Trump in the other thread? If so, what was the defense?

I agree. It is a cluttered mess around here....Works well to foster an echo chamber though.

To say the least. There was only two threads that day I mentioned that got buried and nailed to the second page, they had one theme in common and it wasn't outrage.

It was a weird and quite offensive thing to say...
I’ve seen every President mourn loss of solders.
