The cognitive dissonance you display is rather astounding.

it's fake news spread from a very eager group of minions. The real reason is that they are proposing to move the school 16 blocks away into the middle of a different district. All because a different school district has richer and snobbier parents.

Public schools in the northern United States are much more segregated than in the south

Schools are segregated anywhere there is an urban area.

Small towns usually are the ones that have desegregated schools since there is only one school in the area.

it's fake news

they were quoting Salon

quote:

and those "richer and snobbier" parents are the ones against moving the school, and that group includes Jones/Bee

from your NYT article

quote:

P.S. 452 would move 16 blocks, from 77th Street to 61st Street. While Mr. Parker, the principal, and some parents support moving, since it would give the school its own building, other parents say that the longer commute would deprive their children of the benefits of attending a true neighborhood school, such as bumping into classmates on the playground.

that is hilarious justification and exactly what places like BR argued against with their deseg plans

quote:

“The thing is, I really do believe in integration; I really do think every child that goes to public school deserves a good education and deserves to be safe and stable and all of those things,” Sara Roucloux, a member of the Parent-Teacher Association at P.S. 452, said.

But she said she did not understand “why this little school on 77th Street” might be moved 16 blocks south.

everyone loves integration, as long as other people have to deal with the issues

that's the whole point of criticizing these parents (including Bee/Jones). they can put lipstick on their pig arguments, but this is what it comes down to: the rich, white parents don't want their kids to go to school with poor, black students...something they LOVE to lecture others about

quote:

“Who does a school belong to?” Mr. Edelstein asked. “Does a school belong to its principal? Does it belong to its current faculty?”

“The only idea that makes any sense to me personally is that a school belongs to the neighborhood where it resides,” he said.

exactly the argument people elsewhere get called racists for. a good, recent example: St. George in BR

again, that response is LITERALLY why Jones has told parents not to say things. they don't want to be called racists

Yeah I have. Move the school 4 blocks? Sure, why not? 16 blocks, why? shite, just build another school.

I'm so enjoying the liberal rationalization in this thread.

When they forced this shite down the throats of southern parents, they didn't give a rats frick.

if you want some 3rd level analysis

Jones is LITERALLY shitting out white privilege with his bullshite, because he has the privilege of (1) understanding the racial component of this argument and (2) using his position as an influential white person among a group of white people to construct a message/rhetoric that will decrease the chance of base-level accusations of racism

if you all wanted a dose of some legit white privilege on this beautiful Tuesday, there you have it

it's really amazing the denial liberals are in when it comes to the really that some of the most flagrantly racist places in the country are liberal meccas

it's just really embarrassing. personally I would go with "this has made me rethink some things" or "busted! sometimes I fall beneath what I expect of others." or even "ok so i'm a hypocrite. sue me."

but instead they're going with "what? what did I do? I don't see the conflict?"

now if she were famous like Leonardo DiCaprio or mark Zuckerberg she could skate by without any criticism. no one bothers leo for his jet and no one cares that marky mark is reenacting the trail of tears in Hawaii.
