Yeah, any action against Putin is going to necessitate war.
My biggest fear is that Obama decides to show everyone how tough he is and parks a bunch of Navy hardware in the Med, and then Putin calls his bluff. Nothing would be worse for international relations than to play a game of chicken with the Russians and lose.
How does the saying go, "it's better to say nothing and be thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt."

I was thinking some combined Naval exercises in the Eastern Med and North Sea.
Is Putin going to attack them or something?

What does this mean?

It means that Putin isn't going to respond to strongly worded rhetoric. Putin might respond to three carrier battle groups sitting off the Crimean peninsula.
Perhaps "war" is a poor choice of word.

I don't think Putin is going to attack. I was think more along the lines of both fleets maneuvering in close quarters. If the Russians were to get a little bold, launch perhaps a mock strike at the US Fleet, would we have the balls to respond in kind, and boldly?
I admit, I just finished reading Hunt For Red October again.

Little known fact. Since WWII, the US has fought more wars in more places and killed more people than the Russians and every other power involved in external conflicts combined.
True story.

Impossible. He has no backbone and Putin knows it.

'Merica
I guess I'm a little nervous of us trying to make a show of force and screwing it up. I know we're still the most capable country of blowing shite up in the world.

Will you still be laughing when it dawns on you what "external" means?

Does anyone find this to be somewhat similar to the Pan-Am Lockerbie bombing?
State sponsored, commuter plane, people already know it was one of two groups, and the investigation will be cluster.

I said it earlier. I bet this comes down to a poorly trained conscripted Russian soldier that saw a blip on his radar screen and pressed a button.

You just called Red and Right a whore for bringing up Obama's incompetence and now you post about it. Hypocrite much?

Gosh, get you got me because you used the word "external"
You really believe the US murdered more more peopole "externally" than all other countries combined since WWII?
Complete fricking moron if you think thats the truth

It's an important distinction. I try to use words precisely when I can.
I didn't say "murder." You obviously don't believe in using words precisely. I said "kill." And what I believe hasn't a damned thing to do with what the facts bear out. But FYI, I'm right in this matter.
I'm really working on my temperament. So I'll say you're probably not well educated in this particular field. Move on.

Not a correct statement at all. In The Soviet Unions war with the muhajideen 100k muhajideen were killed and up to 1.5 million civilians.
If while wearing the uniform in service to your country you feel compelled to boast facts of her wrongs please at least get their veracity right.

How many died in Vietnam and since 2001?
Don't come on strong if you're not absolutely fricking sure. Don't respond to this until you do a solid review.
ETA: Let me give you a moment of pause to unwind your panties. It wasn't an insult to our war efforts, it was a (fairly easy) rebuttal to the "oh we're so afraid to commit to hostilities and the Russians are so fricking hardcore".

No review necessary. Don't make statements out of your arse and think everyone will consider them to be true with no credible argument other than you say so. If you need more factual information to obliterate your statement further fine. I can spend the rest of the evening busting you out with pleasure.
