But shouldn’t we see death and suffering on a historical scale?
India is a terribly congested country with a population close to China’s.
By doing nothing, we should be seeing death in the millions - if not tens of millions - in India over the next 6 months.

Trump's visits to India...I really thought he had ingratiated himself to them. As for russia, they had their first death today but like us, closed their borders to china very quickly.
Closing the borders to the bat eaters seems to be the big difference between Italy's story and the rest of the world.
Basically, just dont trust china for shite.

Malaria is holoendemic in India, which means most people have it.Malaria can stay dormant in the body for years then it flairs up again. Most of these people have taken anti-malaria drugs. The drugs chloroquine and chloroquine have shown to be able to prevent and cure the Coronavirus. So, it would not be surprising that this virus would not take hold in India.

Even the poor though?
India has a TON of people. I doubt even half have taken anti-malaria drugs, but then again I dont know anything about this subject.

India is warm/hot and humid. Which is the natural end of the virus "season" here in the USA. And fortunately for this crisis an early spring is upon us. Warm weather, daylight/sunlight courtesy of longer days and humidity are the enemy of viruses. That's why there are seasons. Aside from that Russians don't travel nor do many people travel there. Their borders are closed.

Um it's pretty serious here. They banned all gatherings of 50 or more people, canceled sporting events and theaters, and are allowing people to work from home.
They are making people self quarantine for 2 weeks if you have traveled to certain countries. If you dont you will be fined or arrested.
Rice and canned goods are flying off the shelves but we still have toilet paper.
