After reading my latest Post report, @hughhewitt tells his radio audience this morning that he hears from several leading conservatives that Justice Alito, 70, is considering retirement, and adds that he also hears the Alito family is ready to leave Washington, D.C.

This would be huge and a great way to unite the GOP, conservatives and Trump supporters at a time when the right is in a funk.

Alito is no spring chicken as he's 70 years old and he would be making a wise decision to make sure his replacement is a like minded originalist and conservative justice instead of a communist appointed by a democrat.

Don't make the same mistake RBG made in refusing to retire under Obama and a democrat senate.

Yep if Trumps re-elected, RBG will die on the bench.

Problem is, he's the second most sure bet on the Court for anyone who values the Constitution and true liberty.

Of all nine justices, I’d have though Alito as the least likely to retire behind Kavanaugh IMHO.

I am surprised Clarence Thomas hasn’t stepped down as well.

Kim Clement claimed back in 2007 or 2013 when he was prophesying the Trump presidency that Trump would get two Supreme Court picks because two justices would step down...

If Clement was correct in this, that means he gets one more pick, right? Because one of his current picks wasn't from someone stepping down, but because one of them was murdered.

In a perfect world, this would happen after Trump is reelected...but frankly that might be too much risk.

Democrat senate confirming GOP SCOTUS Justices.

GOP Senate confirming Democrat SCOTUS Justices.

That era of good fatih and bipartisanship is over and will never happen again. Alito would be acknowledging that and getting out while he still can to enjoy his last 2-3 decades of life and get a replacement confirmed, a replacement that is just like him.

If Trump wins look for Thomas and Alito to step down. RBG will not make 4 more years so Trump will have 5 justices. 4 should be worth the nomination

It would almost be worth the lulz watching them and their media all have to turn on a dime and crank up the confirmation attack machine again before November.

If he waits until he's 70 he gets 132% of his social security benefit.

She just needs to go to sleep. Permanently. And take Roberts with her.

Based on what Mitch McConnell said during the Merrick Garland nomination process, wouldn’t the Democrats have a good argument that it should be delayed until after the election?

I think, when all is said and done, Trump will have 6 SC picks. He's already got Kavanaugh and Gorsich. But Alito, Thomas, and Breyer may retire. RBG likely won't make it another 4 years, despite her crossfit routine.

We should make it a 2 for 1 special and replace both Thomas and Alito while we still have a republican POTUS and republican Senate.

I cannot trust the November election going the conservatives way and we need to hedge our bets against that for insurance.

Thomas is 72, 2 years older than Alito.
