I wasn’t bringing it up as a tin foil hat conspiracy but in response to the idea that China had obediently fallen in line because trump was in office.

The Biden Admin mishandled this session.
It was to have been just a photo op, but Blinken said some things in his opening that (in diplo-speak) were pretty incendiary, even if they sound pretty benign in everyday usage. The Chinese reps fired back, and everything went downhill from there, with both sides being ... less than diplomatic. When the two most powerful nations on the planet sit in front of the cameras, you cannot insult the other guy and expect no,response.
Blinken should have raised those issues in the private session, but he was grandstanding for a soundbite. Big misstep for Biden foreign policy team.

To be fair, the Chinese are masters of propaganda and have been doing it longer than the current iteration of our media propagandists. But notice the lack of any editorializing of the diplomat's statements.
Every act of the Trump admin was editorialized (e.g 'Pompeo claims, without evidence, that China is committing genocide of Uyghurs')

Absolutely - and I would think the DIMs were complicit in making it as bad as possible when it hit the USA - I know they vehemently opposed Trump's first response of banning Travel from infected areas. I know they tanked their own state economies to make the anguish as widespread as possible. I know they used the 'crisis' to take over every venue of our federal government. I know that they change the goalposts every time their past mistakes become evident evident. I know the 'pandemic' was the answer to their prayers - they were totally defeated on every issue until the sacred virus blanketed the globe = all as a gift from their primary center of corruption, China.

To me, the only question remaining that makes any sense is whether the Democrats in the U.S. participated with their Komrades in China in unleashing this virus. Everything was going so well for this country that they knew they didn’t have a snowballs chance in hell of getting back Congress or the presidency. They fully understood that the only way they could take back the presidency would be to engage in massive f*cking voter fraud that could only be accomplished through a completely unregulated and unaccountable mass mail-in voting scam. They hated Trump so much that I would not be surprised at all if they got together with the Chinese thinking that they'd be able to control the virus once Trump got out of office. And, they had no clue what they were really unleashing on the world.

They argued back and forth for half an hour.
To be fair, I haven't read the entire transcript and have read mixed reports of Blinken's response to the HR violations charges (e.g. bringing up China's treatment of Uyghurs), but apparently his response to those charges was tepid at best and included a concession of the US' flawed history.
