It would cover B1 and B2 visas issued between 2016 and 2026 to holders who later sought asylum, according to State Department documents obtained by the outlet and two U.S. officials. Any revocation would be carried out by the Department of Homeland Security.
B1 visas cover business trips. B2 visas cover tourism, family visits, and medical care. Neither is meant for people who plan to stay. Applicants for both are asked to affirm that they will not seek asylum once they arrive and to show they intend to return home.
The department has revoked more than 175,000 visas since the start of last year, most of them tied to criminal arrests.
Those work permits became the doorway into commercial trucking. Asylum seekers holding federal employment authorization qualified for non-domiciled commercial driver’s licenses until the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) issued a rule in February that cut the category out.
Punjabi Sikh drivers from northern India make up a large share of that workforce. Roughly one-fifth of the U.S. Sikh population works in trucking, according to the North American Punjabi Trucking Association. Raman Dhillon, the group’s chief executive, said the drivers obtained their licenses at state motor vehicle offices and their work permits from the federal government.
Asylum filings by Indian nationals climbed sharply under former President Joe Biden. Homeland Security recorded 41,030 applications from Indians in fiscal year 2023, up from 4,330 two years earlier. India’s Ministry of External Affairs told Parliament that asylum seekers denigrate the country and its society to obtain personal gain.

As someone who knows quite a few people who have married for residency, I'm of the opinion that we need a narc program.
For everyone you turn in, you get $100K cold hard cash. The system is broken on so many fronts.

I like the IRS reward system. If you find someone who isn’t paying taxes and you report them, you get I think it’s 10% of the total amount that the IRS collects.
There were a good chunk of dudes doing this when OnlyFans popped off during Covid and they were making bank
And of course they were called misogynistic for doing so by the “creators”

I really like the sound of this.
But why only going so far back as 2016? What part do I not know about?

Missouri, and a few other states had been working on a bounty program for illegals. Turn in information that lead to an apprehension- reward. MO was also working on a retrieval system where the actual apprehension would pay out.
Haven't heard anything about it lately, need to check back in on that.

That explains the Punjabi truck stop on HWY 287 between Dallas and Wichita Falls I must have passed a dozen times in recent years. You can even sit criss-cross applesauce to eat.

Indeed! Quite true.
Ok, I looked it up. These visas have a max duration of 10 years. So that explains the dates.
But yeah, they need to go further back. Catch the ones who have overstayed.

This has not had an impact in the skilled workers in the Dallas area. I am curious if Trump administration is going light on Texas due to all the corporate HQs and banking/investment companies relocating to the Dallas area. This could not happen without the skilled workforce already here.
It is noticeable though that it has impacted the unskilled workforce in this area. There are lots fewer landscape, run down construction trucks, and roach coaches on my morning commute.

The unskilled will be the first to leave...after that, the skilled workers should be replaced with skilled American workers as they become available? Surely there are plenty who were ousted from their jobs to make room for the H1b's.
