This is a myth and has been corrected by the us government. No Jews or any other persons were turned into soap or lampshades .
Supposedly , one person had a lampshade made of human skin but even that one is very questionable and there was certainly no systemic effort to turn Jews into soap , use hair for socks and clothing , shrink their heads , etc etc etc . This is allied propaganda used to keep our troops pointing weapons at Germans. The Germans weren’t the only side using propaganda

P.S. there were no weapons of mass destruction in Iraq either.

Edit for clarity - I am not saying that there aren't veterans who liberated Dachau, but that the number of people who claim to know someone who did is comically high.
