Ron DeSantis has little chance of beating Donald Trump - The Economist

quote:

Greater fanfare will accompany the official declaration (on Twitter) on May 24th that Ron DeSantis, the governor of Florida, is joining the race for the Republican nomination. He has been widely heralded as the candidate with the best chance of defeating the favourite, Donald Trump. But even as more plotters step forward, the chances of a successful coup to overthrow Mr Trump are growing slimmer by the day.

Welp…looks like 4 more years of the Democrat party at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.

Yeah you might be right. The hardcore Desantis voters would rather sit out the election than pull the lever for Trump, just so they can say "see, I told you Trump couldn't win"

All it takes is one debate to change all of this.

I doubt there are any people outside Florida who self identify as a hard core Desantis voter and even in Florida most of it is in his old congressional district.

do you know anyone who is so hoping for Desantis they sit it out if its Trump?
do they also sit it out if N. Haley is selected by the convention?

I doubt people sit out over their first choice not on survivor island. i do think many citizens (INDs, college educated, and embarrassed lifetime conservatives) will not vote trump if he's convicted of a crime related to the 2020 election.

I don't think any Republican candidate can win against the combination of msm/dems/perm government.

I like trump, but his dumbass was too focused on blaming alleged cheating. When he should've been bitching about how fricked up it is that a Republican presidential candidate has to deal with msm, Democrats and permanent government working in unison. Permanent government was even using social media platforms as puppets in order to create a false reality to manipulate the masses. That shite is legit election interference. But he was constantly talking about shite he couldn't prove.

There are dozens on this board alone. They have openly admitted that they will never vote for Trump. It's Desantis or bust.

I don't recall any people in the "Which do you like now" thread that prefer DeSantis suggesting they'll write him in if he loses the nomination, or they'll vote for him if he runs third party, because him running third party would be absurd.

Trump on the other hand...

I think there's a good chance of this. Then we'll have to cross our fingers that Trump learned from his first term, gives a shite about what his constituents want, and grows a spine for when things get tough.

Find 3.

I know there was the davidheroes thread refusing for Desantis. I think there was one guy from each side who refused to vote for the other side besides him. You’re talking out of your arse.

Why don’t you go away and come back when you have at least 3 positive impacts your Turnip in Chief has had since taking office. I’ll even let you use his 50 years on the legislative side.
